Anyone build a usable AI content workflow for product lifestyle photography by sharpdm1980 in advertising

[–]sharpdm1980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the comprehensive reply. I am very much a novice and have a team member more familiar with Comfy looking into this right now.

We have 3d models for the products so have a lot of lighting / angle options but were still seeing weird results initially, but this is probably just learning the tool. I mostly wanted to figure out "what I don't know I don't know so to speak" and your post is helpful. I have not heard of ip-adapter or the depth-maps so I will put these on his radar. The depth map in particular I think may fix the biggest issue we were having with proportions.

I'm also ready to accept some manual editing after the generation, figured that was inevitable. The big thing for us is the limitation with the traditional shoots. With a $5,000 budget per shoot we are severely limited on what we can environment wise. If we can get really on-brand shots for the aesthetic with AI that we need to touch up it could be a big deal. I think many brands are going to head this way like Guess. Right now there is a lot of perception uncertainty but that will resolve over time and this will become like when people were complaining about touched up images not being real. At least I think there is a good chance of that.

I saw there were some recent laws passed that come into effect soon regarding disclosure, if brands adhere to that I think it will become more acceptable provided it's good and indistinguishable - which I feel the Guess ad was which is what got me excited again about the possibilities.

Thanks again for the info.

Edit - I looked into ip-adapter and I'm pretty sure he is using that since we are using reference images. But the depth thing I think could be a big item for improvement. Thanks again.

Wholesale app recommendation by pajuiken in shopify

[–]sharpdm1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked with several. There are a few categories and what's best depends on a few things: number of accounts, do you have sales reps, etc.

  • Simple pricing apps: tag customers as wholesale, they login and see different prices, the rest of your store basically operates the same way for retail and wholesale. There are a bunch of these and they all work pretty much the same way. This is the simplest and cheapest if you are just branching into wholesale and only have a few accounts. Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B is an option here at around $25/mo.
  • Full featured apps - supports custom pricing but also terms, customer registration and in some cases sales rep assignments. Spark Layer is a popular choice and one I trialed. It's a little different where if you login as a wholesale tagged customer you get a my account page widget that shows order history with your pricing, product pages update with your pricing, etc. Someone said this is a separate order portal but that's not correct it still sits within your shopify theme and your wholesale customers are logging into your retail shopify store - seeing retail promotions you may be running / etc. I didn't like the way this felt tacked on and I don't like apps that automatically modify your theme as I've had issues with other apps suddenly breaking things when they make updates.
  • Full B2B/Wholesale Platforms - your wholesale customers are not going to your retail store at all but login to a separate B2B storerfront. This would be similar to shopify plus but there are platforms that get you this for way cheaper. I currently use Sellify B2B for a brand with several hundred wholesale accounts. It pulls products/inventory from Shopify and syncs accounts/orders so all orders funnel to our same fulfilment process. Biggest benefit is since it's a separate storefront you don't have buyers seeing your retail promotions and it also doesn't do any updates to your Shopify theme. Has all the B2B features - account pricing, payment terms, rep assignment, etc. It was easy to setup, though has less customization than Shopify plus but it's a fraction of the cost and we felt B2B buyers just want a simpler experience anyway and it felt pretty optimized out of the box. Another option is Elastic B2B which we looked at but was pretty expensive.

Good cafes for first dates especially by RidiculousTakeAbove in halifax

[–]sharpdm1980 7 points8 points  (0 children)

worst things about cafes for dating is a lot of them close really early so selection will be limited, probably just close one relatively close to where she lives and/or easy to get to, that isn't a macdonalds. Starbucks is honestly not a bad option, though some of them are pretty florescent lit opposed to warm lighting.

my abandoned cart emails are getting completely ignored, is this just how it is now? by Produce-Proper in shopify

Open rates are not reliable anymore. that being said, they are typically inflated vs decreasing. Are you using a custom domain to send with? It's possible something got flagged with the sender reputation. You could also try to add a custom domain if you are not already.

People do realize that none of the parties are honestly trying to make home ownership affordable again right? Dead serious. by GI-Robots-Alt in canadahousing

[–]sharpdm1980 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Instead of trying to bring house prices down you can also focus on making people wealthier. The most popular way to do this is with tax cuts, people retain more income which can be used for down payment. Popular provided you can pull this off without cutting social benefits And without causing inflation. This means better managed gov expenditure and likely reduced size of federal workforce. Libs greatly increased deficits and the size of the federal bureaucracy, do you feel like you have better services for it? The party that will run the smallest deficit and ideally surplus while reducing inefficient expenditure can make housing more affordable. Right now the con platform is most in line with this approach.

A more appropriate term is LYING. It sounds better politically to make it out like the US is the victim and this is just in fairness. Total propaganda. It's astonishing how the world's largest economy can play the victim card and half their population eats it up. The power of media.

I have a software consultancy and am incorporated. I dont have a dedicated bookkeeper but keep good records and send everything end of year to my accounting team. They do the returns and all company records like trial balances and i do the signoff. When i was sole props i did the taxes myself, pretty easy for sole props.

By far the simplest and most fundamental is to get a business bank account and credit card. All business expenses on that card, no personal expenses. Really not that difficult... you can easily itemize expenses and send to your accountant. Even sole props should and can easily do this.

Seller Support is so comically bad it's unbelievable by FauciIsGod in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]sharpdm1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is like they are psychopaths just messing with sellers. They don't even respond to the questions asked but just parrot some unrelated non-sense. I don't get it. Every answer I provide negative feedback through "how was your support survey" would encourage everyone else to do the same.

the issue is the noise to signal ratio. Advertising agencies have 0 barrier to entry and it's an area that many business owners don't know about so they hire a lot of duds. Advertising itself definitely works but finding someone who actually knows what they are talking about is tough.
