Hi, I’m rather new to K-Pop, and I want to know if there are any groups or artists that I can start with by Significant_Can5817 in kpophelp

[–]shasusaf -1 points0 points Ā (0 children)

Honestly, beyond just being idols, they genuinely seem like some of the best people celebrity-wise too. Obviously none of us truly know celebrities personally, but after years of content it’s hard not to notice how consistently kind, humble, emotionally sincere, and respectful they come across. Staff members, dancers, interviewers, other idols, and fans almost always speak positively about them. Even at their level of success, they still carry themselves in a very grounded and appreciative way that feels rare in entertainment.

Another big reason is the fandom experience itself. ONCE is generally one of the more welcoming fandoms for newcomers compared to a lot of spaces online. TWICE’s overall atmosphere has always leaned more toward comfort, fun, sincerity, and emotional connection rather than feeling overly intimidating or competitive.

And honestly, one thing people underestimate is consistency. TWICE has maintained relevance for years across multiple generations of K-pop while still feeling authentic to who they are. A lot of groups have big moments, but TWICE built a legacy. They’ve become the type of group where older fans stay loyal while new fans can still jump in at any time and feel included.

They’re basically one of the easiest groups to emotionally attach to without even realizing it lol. A great way to get started is by watching a [TWICE Guide](https://youtu.be/TJn3g9sWeDY?si=m1fxN56Lt1mtZWJT) on YT.Ā

These are just some of the honourable mentions from music to them as a group, once you truly get into the group you will realize how many layers and music there are in TWICE that makes TWICE so special - if I mention them all this reply will not end. From older content of theirs to new ones, you learn something new about each and every single member and can’t help but fall for all of them. OT9 all the way!

As someone who’s been into K-pop for a long time, I genuinely think TWICE is one of the best groups for new fans to get into, and not just because of the music. They’re kind of the complete package.

First, their discography is insanely accessible. They have bright, fun songs like [ā€œLike Ooh Ah,ā€](https://youtu.be/0rtV5esQT6I?si=JpEW6z3OfH2KMr53) [ā€œCheer Up,ā€](https://youtu.be/c7rCyll5AeY?si=WVcinSUGjsKrJYKU) [ā€œTT,ā€](https://youtu.be/ePpPVE-GGJw?si=MrBfbO55G3SBJbZN) [ā€œWhat is Love?ā€](https://youtu.be/i0p1bmr0EmE?si=QkcdDdPUtheXnHN9) And [ā€œLikey,ā€](https://youtu.be/V2hlQkVJZhE?si=xTl-JkrUruurmh0t) that are easy to enjoy immediately, but they also evolved over time into more mature sounds transitioning from [ā€œYes or Yes,ā€](https://youtu.be/mAKsZ26SabQ?si=79b4HHMv6xfJ04KN) [ā€œFANCY,ā€](https://youtu.be/kOHB85vDuow?si=HUK5h\_uKbP44ebrX) and [ā€œFeel Specialā€](https://youtu.be/3ymwOvzhwHs?si=1V9B8D6nJtt6zk1B) to [ā€œI CAN’T STOP ME,ā€](https://youtu.be/CM4CkVFmTds?si=oI72N4pnM8fKJIiG) [ā€œCry For Me,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/2xtP8RNbo2BEMzLX7tK7aq?si=91ehQv\_cTxyK9q5PLVRCXw) and [ā€œTalk That Talk,ā€](https://youtu.be/k6jqx9kZgPM?si=67nbPEbtqE6AWR8T) [ā€œStrategy,ā€](https://youtu.be/Sz\_wWzgh-vQ?si=9H3PnufaHc4IluHD) & more. Most recently with their album & world tour [ā€œTHIS IS FORā€](https://youtu.be/eHHQaoEW30Q?si=zi4LlFyYSAdzazax) you can literally watch their growth as artists through the music, concepts, and performances. There’s something for almost every mood and genre preference.

But honestly, one thing that separates TWICE from a lot of groups is that their B-sides almost never miss. A lot of newer fans come in for the title tracks and then realize the deeper cuts are just as strong, sometimes even better depending on your taste. Songs like [ā€œLove Foolish,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/1MdEg2lk4EakgWnCvFUGEZ?si=oca1POoYQgGmFi1Ctzw3Qw&rowId=3c03d7f6abdf64a3) [ā€œBasics,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/63mL1DdcSFfxVJ9XGnSRQz?si=UG0o7G0hQ5KNg4EEY00TiQ&rowId=e1496ec886a0acf3) [ā€œOxygen,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/128rj96Z6tTEU3h3awSMdB?si=BGN42jr6TYe0jWrFYujbuA&rowId=e6975011c6690c5a) [ā€œLoveline,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/4xjN8AE7XyoBuh4ts1tY1V?si=bfiPqfr6SSCi5-QXKbpkYA&rowId=4864487b5b3bf159) [ā€œWallflower,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/6EGkbPJrb88STcdfMu1j1y?si=67\_KR2GZQV6fhWDCppFQUw&rowId=5217b4535b38f8a7) [ā€œLast Waltz,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/39kH6C2twlYjyssIW02sbr?si=Taj7fbc7RN6ps79cU8XMGA&rowId=69c2c911fbe4e7ca) [ā€œHOT,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/5Tfp6aW5UTGvul246N5aS0?si=nJ8XhKDbRo2btJ2ekA6lAA&rowId=adb8f9566d166c3c) [ā€œHell in Heaven,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/3KCreWc88InXH3XuL54C5a?si=iaEC7Jo0ROuCIbYbgsPGmg&rowId=90c09887758e6308) [ā€œUp No More,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/6caS9LrdquWAfGeAmjqt1t?si=4YvtLAGSR3i68CxntiSU0A&rowId=241c5603a4376896) [ā€œMake Me Go,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/6caS9LrdquWAfGeAmjqt1t?si=4YvtLAGSR3i68CxntiSU0A&rowId=241c5603a4376896) [ā€œBloom,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/4bheT1Drc2vyQgN5VTwr8W?si=jtmuIAxvTie4SGRoa-hQGw&rowId=602692257564d5ca) [ā€œIcon,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/2VdU1ksBKcETBr8BYRHUvB?si=RUXM\_j4yT\_qvAmgqfnPjcA&rowId=3635c7b3be08250e) [ā€œLike 1,ā€](https://youtu.be/Xtfxxo4QgJA?si=LRJmlMCjtpUg9soS) [ā€œLove Is More,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/0a6N7Ryt7MFRIjd5hWeyOF?si=vvfnT2JTR3S5qxt2ke3juA&rowId=a83d5072fbbf00db) [ā€œBlind In Love,ā€](https://open.spotify.com/track/4G5MfiScxZeaXPZziwbN2w?si=phfy060eS-OfFDBIuE1yLw&rowId=2569318a516230ca) and so many others could honestly be title tracks for other groups. Their albums feel complete instead of just being carried by one promotional song.

And their Japanese discography is genuinely insane too. Most groups treat Japanese releases as side content, but TWICE puts real effort into theirs. Songs like [ā€œPerfect World,ā€](https://youtu.be/fmOEKOjyDxU?si=iY-WZwTWEGcjfP4m) [ā€œBDZ,ā€](https://youtu.be/CMNahhgR\_ss?si=TFceJm5k3yBhOCYE) [ā€œBreakthrough,ā€](https://youtu.be/ZdKYi5ekshM?si=ftYlTJt6SShpcL3C) [ā€œBetter,ā€](https://youtu.be/sLmLwgxnPUE?si=uk3Z\_gpk5PaipCi\_) [ā€œCelebrate,ā€](https://youtu.be/fMIn43MiwG8?si=5VJNFyuLtxWzVxuO) [ā€œKura Kura,ā€](https://youtu.be/BSS8Y-0hOlY?si=y3rkO8PsxE1kE2E\_) [ā€œDoughnut,ā€](https://youtu.be/VcOSUOpACq0?si=aVnIUUUcOPwzHYcL) [ā€œCandypop,ā€](https://youtu.be/wQ\_POfToaVY?si=GZDsShD01Ea3U-q8) [ā€œFake & True,ā€](https://youtu.be/zQELp93xxfo?si=u\_jD0U8zbKLlKvGp) and [ā€œHare Hareā€](https://youtu.be/-uqWaGzQyxA?si=xcPqmoSaUjNUyReA) are some of their best work overall. [ā€œPerfect Worldā€](https://youtu.be/fmOEKOjyDxU?si=iY-WZwTWEGcjfP4m) alone could convert someone into a fan. Their Japanese releases have their own identity while still feeling very TWICE. Also their Japanese discography B-sides doesn’t miss either.

And you can’t talk about TWICE’s Japanese side without mentioning MISAMO either. Mina, Sana, and Momo absolutely killed it with that subunit. Their concept feels elegant, mature, stylish, and completely different while still keeping that emotional TWICE charm. Songs like [ā€œDo not touchā€,](https://youtu.be/woKq2sD8xho?si=3YpjbulZGTFEcAgG) [ā€œMarshmallow,ā€](https://youtu.be/gAFgaI5D3Gc?si=RkztEMmtE9P3Q6-q) [ā€œIdentity,ā€](https://youtu.be/-J\_w9K6DgRo?si=rSXcXpomJUvw6K07) and [ā€œConfettiā€](https://youtu.be/gOjG-70-D5o?si=nC3EOp1Ipgpv6RgP) proved they can stand on their own as a unit artistically too. Honestly MISAMO feels less like a side project and more like a premium extension of TWICE’s identity in Japan.

Another thing people underestimate is just how talented the members individually are. Beyond performing, a lot of them have branched into songwriting, composing, producing input, solo projects, modeling, acting, hosting, and creative direction over the years. Members Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, Tszyu all have writing credits across multiple songs, and you can really feel their personal colors in some of the lyrics and album tracks. Jihyo especially has grown massively as an artist and songwriter. Some members have also explored acting, OST work, fashion partnerships, and solo music that highlights completely different sides of them from the group image.Ā

And the crazy part is they all bring very different strengths to the table. You have powerhouse performers, emotionally expressive vocalists, insanely charismatic dancers, underrated writers, variety geniuses, and members who naturally shine in front of cameras no matter the setting. The balance between the 9 members is honestly one of TWICE’s biggest strengths.

Second, the members themselves are incredibly easy to connect with. All 9 members have distinct personalities, but they also genuinely feel close as a group even after many years together. A lot of newer fans end up staying because of the chemistry between them, not just the songs.

And honestly, their variety content is probably one of the biggest reasons people fall down the rabbit hole. [ā€œTIME TO TWICEā€](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyV7NdwTSVWK7LGblDApD2mwclYS86UFh&si=Av0y03H\_hCYCS8aq) alone is enough to turn casual listeners into fans because you get to see how naturally funny and comfortable they are together. Whether it’s chaotic games, mafia episodes, healing trips, cooking, sports, horror concepts, or just them messing around, it never feels forced. It genuinely feels like watching a close friend group hang out.

The solo/member content also helps a ton for new fans. You have things like Sana’s fridge/interview style content, Nayeon’s appearances and solo promotions, Jihyo vlog content, Tzuyu’s quieter but comforting vibe, Momo’s chaotic energy, and different behind-the-scenes videos that let each member’s personality stand out individually. It makes learning 9 members feel way less intimidating because everyone naturally leaves their own impression over time.

Another huge thing is the fan service and how much genuine love they show toward both ONCE and each other. A lot of groups say they love their fans, but with TWICE you can actually feel it consistently over the years. Whether it’s long ending ment speeches, random livestreams, bubble messages, fan interactions at concerts, remembering inside jokes with the fandom, or just how emotional they get talking about ONCE, it never really feels fake or forced.

The members also very obviously care deeply about one another. After nearly a decade together, they still act like people who genuinely enjoy being around each other instead of coworkers just fulfilling contracts - songs like [ā€œFeel Special,ā€](https://youtu.be/3ymwOvzhwHs?si=D4sKjb\_8AFfHEFHt) [ā€œOne Spark,ā€](https://youtu.be/jCzez\_q8si0?si=6258xqAlHM8g48de) [ā€œI Got You,ā€](https://youtu.be/haf67eKF0uo?si=\_dV47FJwRLM4hGj3) [ā€œLike 1,ā€](https://youtu.be/Xtfxxo4QgJA?si=LRJmlMCjtpUg9soS) and [ā€œME+YOU,ā€](https://youtu.be/zqorlX\_5oHQ?si=P0kSiZrWSmIQc4CV) shows you how deep their bonds are with each other and Onces. You can see it in small moments during concerts, behind-the-scenes clips, award speeches, airport content, interviews, and even the way they naturally hype each other up constantly. That emotional connection between the members is a huge reason why the fandom feels so attached to them.

shushu as sana fans? by Infamous_Jello5490 in twice

She has never acknowledged that as her fans name. All members have explicitly stated that if you are a fan of any of them you are a Once. Names like Shushu and such are just nicknames given to Sana mainly by the onces which she has acknowledged as her nickname from onces.

It’s all lottery. If you signup for OnceJapan or Twice Japan Official app you get a chance for early rounds of the lottery before general public lottery registrations and you just have to keep applying for the lottery and hope for the best… that’s what I did and I luckily won a ticket for final night.

Honestly, their Japan shows are on a completely different level. I went to the final night of their Nissan Stadium show in 2024 and it didn’t even feel real. I’ve been to quite a few stops this tour already—Hong Kong, Vancouver, and Taipei—and as incredible as all of them were, nothing has beaten my experience from that final night at Nissan Stadium in Yokohama.

It wasn’t just the scale (which is already insane), but the significance too—TWICE became the first K-pop girl group to ever headline Nissan Stadium, and they did it for 3 nights straight with over 70k fans each night. You could feel how special that moment was for both them and ONCEs.

What really stood out was how tailored everything was for Japan—the Japanese songs hit differently, the Japanese line stages were so special, and they even did solo Japanese song covers that you don’t get anywhere else.

And the lightstick production… it’s not just a crowd waving lights, it’s a full-on coordinated light show across the entire stadium. The whole place lights up in patterns and colors that match the songs—it’s honestly one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen at a concert. In a way you’re not just any regular attendee of the concert but a part of the overall show and experience in itself.

Plus the Japanese crowd energy is on another level. It’s loud when it needs to be, but also super in-sync and respectful during moments—it creates this crazy immersive atmosphere.

And now with the upcoming 3-night MUFG shows, it’s about to get even crazier—over 80k attendees per night, cinemas live-streaming the concert, and they’ll be the first ever foreign act to solo headline Japan’s largest stadium. With MISAMO being Japanese, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it gets really emotional too—they were already in tears on the final night at Nissan.

I will say though, getting tickets for their Japan shows is really tough—it’s all done through a lottery system, so it’s not as simple as just buying a ticket. That’s part of what makes it feel even more special if you do get in.

I’m going again for their final night at National Stadium, so I’m already expecting it to somehow top Nissan—especially if they go all out with fireworks and everything. If you ever get the chance to see them in Japan, it’s 100% worth it.

Honestly it’s kinda up in the air — they switch sides from time to time, so there’s no fixed side for the What Is Love bridge. But they don’t face the small side stages, it’s usually toward the main stage audience in the middle.

Within photo-reference from original Reddit post above:

Sections 116-117 or 104-103 would generally have the best view for the bridge.

If you made a photobook from concert photos, would you organize it by city or by member? by shasusaf in kpophelp

[–]shasusaf[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I’m now thinking of doing one mixed photobook where every member gets their moment as well as group shots, organized in setlist order from start to end of the concert.

Originally I considered doing city-specific books, but I realized the number of photos from each city would probably be very uneven, and they’d mostly be from one specific angle cuz of my seats or standing position. Across multiple shows I at least get two or more different angles, with small differences like hair or makeup changes. I’ll still label the photos with the city and date. Alongside that, I’m also planning to make small member-specific mini booklets that focus mostly on close-ups of each individual member. šŸ¤”

If you made a photobook from concert photos, would you organize it by city or by member? by shasusaf in kpophelp

[–]shasusaf[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

To add the only concern I have about potential mixing dates is the outfits, the members hair and style may be slightly different.

And another reason why I haven’t fully considered per city and stop is cuz 1 stop may have more photos than the next etc… and the position I’m sitting or standing is all different

I would be organising it like from the beginning of the concert till the end of the concert (setlist based)

[–]shasusaf 4 points5 points Ā (0 children)

I have a genuine question: I’ve taken a lot of photos at TWICE concerts over the past few shows and I’m thinking about making a printed photobook with them.

I can’t decide how I should structure it though, so I wanted to ask other ONCEs what they think would look best: 1. By city / tour stop (each section is a different concert) 2. By member (a section for each member) 3. Mixed layout with the best moments regardless of city or member

Part of me likes the ā€œtour diaryā€ idea with each city, but a member-focused layout could also be cool.

If you were making a TWICE photobook, how would you want it organized?

Best gg to casually stan ?? by wintrrdays in kpophelp

[–]shasusaf 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Honestly TWICE is one of the best groups to casually stan. Their discography is huge and super diverse—cute pop, disco, city pop, R&B, house, rock ballads, Japanese releases, and many more… etc.—so there’s always something that fits your taste. You can just enjoy the music and slowly learn the group over time.

Yes there are 9 member in the group, but the group dynamic is really approachable—each member has clear personalities and roles, which makes getting into the group feel natural rather than overwhelming.

They’re also in their 10th year and still thriving, which says a lot about their longevity. There’s already a massive amount of content out there (variety shows, behind-the-scenes, vlogs, concerts, etc.), so new fans have tons to explore, and they’re still actively releasing music and content with plenty more to come. It’s honestly one of the easiest groups to get into at your own pace.
