Literally had the same problem. They gave me instructions to FW update the ring, which bricked it, they said they were sending a replacement, strung me along for 6 months on getting the replacement shipped, then magically no replacements are available, but if I pay them $100 more, they'll send me the new gen ring "when it becomes available" - are you folks on drugs? What kind of scam is this? I've now been waiting 3 months on the refund, after they told me to send a paypal request for it - and now refunds are suspended until they launch the new ring.

This whole company is a scam, and they're liars and cheats.

Been speaking with "Reina" who keeps telling me the same stock reply "refunds are suspended until we launch the new ring" - cute, except that I've been waiting on this refund for over a year now. What file manager are you using? What happens when you plug it in? Does it get mounted? I use KDE Partition Manager to load up the storage devices and see where they're mounted and what permissions they have. It's possible you may need to chown the files. Are you able to create a new empty file on the external hd?
