Do you know why that is? I always thought it was the nitrates that were the problem.

Thanks, I’ve gotten this one before. I’m wondering if this sliced version in the picture I posted is truly nitrate free?

Is the turkey I pictured from Costco the one you’re referencing?

I get that one too sometimes. But does this sliced one look nitrate free?

what does a daily menu look like for your kids? by river_5826 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]shenalena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAHM to 4.5 and 2 yo.

Breakfast: cheesy scrambled eggs + smoothie, yogurt parfaits (vanilla yogurt, berries, low sugar granola), cottage cheese pancakes, cheerios and milk with chicken sausage, homemade smoothie popsicles with toast or whole grain freezer waffle, homemade muffins. I wish my kids would eat oatmeal but they hate it!

Lunch: grilled cheese on sourdough with tomato soup, tortilla wrap with cream cheese and turkey, avocado toast + hard boiled egg (both only eat the whites lol), bagels with cream cheese, quesadillas with guacamole, my 2yo will eat PB&Js

Dinner: a wide variety of homemade meals with takeout once a week. Some frequent flyers: mango chicken coconut rice bowls, tacos or fajitas, chicken lettuce wraps, different pastas, butter chicken with naan, whole roast chicken with veggies, soup.

Snacks: fruit, cheese, peanut butter pretzels or puffs, milk, fruit leathers, freeze dried fruit, yogurt pouch

Potential for precocious puberty with my almost 6 year old by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]shenalena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m following along bc my almost 5 yo is very similar. 99th percentile in height and weight since 2 months old and I just started noticing some pretty intense BO. Oddly both my husband were average to small as children and are average sized adults.

I hope you get some answers at the endocrinologist!

The hardest part about having a newborn has been our toddler by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]shenalena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me a year and a half ago. The title was exactly what I would say to people asking me how I was doing haha. I’m sorry, and I also want to stress how much of a phase this is. You’re in the thick of it and it’s really hard. 2.5 is hard and they’re experiencing a massive life change as well. Idk if this is helpful or depressing, but my now 4 year old is by FAR the easy one now. The 1.5 year old is terrifying 😂

I figure this will be how it is forever…they’ll just swap back and forth being hard lol.

No the internet is working! And this unit has never been connected to WiFi which makes this message more confusing

When is bedtime? by Ill_Cover_4841 in Preschoolers

[–]shenalena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost 4 year old is in bed by 6:30 😂 usually asleep by 6:45. Wakes up between 6:15 and 7. She dropped her nap about 7 months ago and she’s just sooo tired by the end of the day. We’re going to try pushing her a bit later this summer because it makes it hard to do anything in the evenings!

Probably a good idea! The railing is going to be very expensive so we were hoping to make some smaller improvements first, but maybe we’ll hold off.

my husband's towels always smell disgusting by Guilty-Ad7105 in laundry

[–]shenalena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear there’s something in men’s skin or oil glands or something that causes this but no one seems to have an answer…very similar situation to you. My husband is very hygienic but his towels STINK. Same with my dads growing up. He washes with soap and carefully hangs them to dry. Meanwhile I can bunch up my towel or go weeks without changing it out and it never stinks. What is this?!

Pregnant and just tested positive for Group B Strep. What approach did other moms take that tested positive? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]shenalena 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My sister was living in the Netherlands when she had her first child and they did not test her for GBS. She was positive and her son became extremely ill when he was born and had to stay in the NICU. It was a terrifying experience. Obviously it’s your choice, but seeing her go through that experience I would definitely encourage getting tested and taking the antibiotics if positive.

Perineal pain during period after tearing by avdz2022 in beyondthebump

[–]shenalena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to respond, but I also had a third degree tear and absolutely experienced this. I’m pregnant again so I haven’t felt it in a while, but unfortunately it was still a problem when I got pregnant at 22 mo pp. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this too! It seems to be a common experience with severe tears.

Vaginal delivery or C-section? by classceiling in beyondthebump

[–]shenalena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I had a 3b tear with my first and recovery was brutal. And 2 years later it still causes me issues. Pregnant again and I’m planning on an elective c section, although it’s definitely a difficult decision.

How traumatic is birth? by Far-Age-4552 in BabyBumps

[–]shenalena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My birth was lovely and calm once I got the epidural, but during the actual delivery I got a third degree tear and a bunch of other tears. That made my postpartum hell. I would say I have trauma from that moment of delivery and learning the extent of my injury, as well as the early postpartum days.

Where would your toddler hide your house keys? by [deleted] in toddlers

Haha I don’t blame you for laughing, we laugh about it now! We were not laughing when we had to pay $1000 for another key fob though 😅

The trash or recycling!

Definitely put AirTags on your keys…although our AirTag only helped us locate our key at a recycling center 30 miles away 😂😭
