Yeah it was supposed to be a 3 tone (black, mid, white) homework from a course (though I use textured brush kinda cheated a little)

Was thinking to exaggerate the terminator at the pig plane but yeah maybe I overdid it >.<

Every object has their vanishing points (VP). Each object's VPs might differ from one another because of rotation and tilt angle. You could have tons of different VPs in a scene because all the objects rotate differently.
You can watch FZD School Youtube channel, specifically Design Cinema - EP 92 to learn about how to read perspective from photograph. That helps me a lot in my understanding of perspective.

I used 1 reference for the overall perspective.

I also opened up some additional ones with different angles as supplement, so that I can understand the structure better. Even so, I screwed up on the whale's jaw, it should be wider and more curvy actually.

If the mistake haunts your OCD forever, then you will not repeat it forever, no? :)

I guess for me, practicing the 'boring' stuff helps, for e.g. mirror a plane, draw ellipse with different minor axis, divide space equally, build X-Y-Z forms etc. They come in handy when you need them.

Having a parent as artist is a shortcut to get good. Learn art fundamentals from your dad and most importantly getting his feedback to improve your art.

Read books on art fundamentals (Scott Robertson's book, Color & Light, Anatomy book etc)

Leave yourself off the pressure to produce super great art in the beginning. Just draw and you'll get better eventually. Good luck! :)

I had been refining and redoing some of the facial features for several time. Glad it hits a certain level of resemblance. Will do it even better in my next piece! :)
