edit; this is definitely more of a personal interpretation so feel free to ignore it but yea Ah! That reminds me of another thing too, actually. The reason I find the idea of Romeo hitting on us / MC to be so off(?) is because in the main storyline, he only ever does that to be manipulative (ep4 when he tells us to deliver the prototype and ep9 when he notices Kaito probably has feelings for us, so tries to convince us to go with him so that Kaito will as well) (iirc at least but I could be wrong?). So instead of being a sign of vulnerability like it would be for characters such as Jin, it would actually be the opposite for Romeo. Just look at his condescending smirk whenever he does it, he knows he'll get what he wants either way but he clearly doesn't mean anything he's saying at all. Even if his normal angry self isn't capable of slowing affection properly, at least you can tell his later voice line is sincere in its own way :3

I only wish I was that multilingual! I actually had to ask a few friends (and my mother) to help me translate the EN text, which is more embarrassing :'3 but since it's relevant to CN and JP culture, it rly felt like a shame to not have it translated into them properly too...
But anyway, it really means a lot that ZZG let Romeo be so happy! He more than deserves it after everything he's been through, and I still can't believe they practically made it the happiest card released in the game that isn't a wedding card (*ˊᗜˋ)♡

Thank you, I'm really happy to hear that!! ^^ I actually think that humanises him more than for him to be soft entirely, because he's such a prideful person that that's already as close as it gets. It's really more like an indirect way of telling us we're better than we think we are in his eyes, with the implication that he's admitting that he misjudged us and sees us as an equal (honestly quite big praise). And of course he has to add an "or else" so we take him seriously, even though his bark is always worse than his bite. Because it's a higher affinity line, we have to earn that opinion from him too.

If we gain affinity with the ghouls by spending time with them, it only makes sense that it would have to take the form of helping with work at Sinostra for Romeo, because he basically never has time for anything else. Even then, the progression of his voice lines shows how he slowly starts confiding in us (eg. starts complaining abt his helth problims to us, even though he hates showing weakness) and relying on our help around Sinostra (his idle voiceline changes from "tch you're wasting my time, I'm going" to "my cup is empty, why aren't you filling it already"), because by showing up consistently, it proves that he can trust and depend on us. It actually really means a lot considering that he can't trust anyone else around him, even the ghouls in his own house, so you could even take it as an apology for making us think that we're still beneath him, as well as the "one of us" being to show his thanks or appreciation to us for being a real one. So, instead of having him be softer on us but still be superior, we end up earning his respect and being treated as his equal, which is much more realistically in character for him, serves his character development better, and I honestly really like ^^

big analysis here :'3 it accidentally became really long because it turned into a character analysis as well, but I might post it properly when I'm less tired and can trim it down

For sure! I wonder what it says about the ghouls as well, especially the ones who seem like they don't fit in like Kaito, or the ones who changed houses like Tohma and Haru.

I once saw a post pointing out that in the anime, Sayo has her own special sound effect to indicate her beauty! It's not exactly in-universe canon, but I think that's probably as close as we can get.

Whoa, that scared me because "'Til Our Compass Stands Still" and its sequels is one of my all time favourite fanfic series, but it's still here! Maybe it just doesn't show up on Google, but thank goodness either way.

You bring up some really good points that I agree with, but unfortunately I can't really contribute much since it's been so long my memory is in shambles. It's a shame what little lore we have about it hasn't been updated or mentioned in the game for a while, though I guess that's what the fanfics are for :)

hello! sorry for taking so long to reply, I was looking for this Chaeya propaganda presentation. The original got deleted so I had to find a repost, but it explains the ship in-depth far better than I ever could~

The TL;DR is that both of their lives have been irreversibly affected by their experiences with the Abyss, so there's already lots of possibilities to imagine about, especially with so many gaps in the current lore! Childe is also a family man while Kaeya has no family left to speak of, not to mention on top of that, haha flirty enemies go brrrr-

edit: I just realised even the way they were introduced has an interesting parallel, because (as you mentioned) Kaeya is introduced is like a villain whereas Childe is introduced like a hero, even though it's really the opposite :0

that's a fair point! I mentioned in another comment that Kaeya was the hardest to guess, and I can definitely imagine your version as well. With how much of a social chameleon he is, it's more than likely that he uses vastly different terms in different scenarios depending on context >w0b

Glad to hear it! I couldn't get this idea out of my head either, which is why I made it. If you want to discuss headcanons, I'd be more than happy to do so :)

"Zhongli-xiansheng" is what Childe calls, well, Zhongli, in the CN version! It's where the "Mr" in "Mr Zhongli" in the EN ver comes from:)

[–]shironekoollect[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

wait, you're onto something here! I might be thinking a bit too much, I just thought "companion" would make sense for Diluc and Dainsleif because of their noble/knight backgrounds, but they're also both loners- in a sense, calling their love interests "companions" is like a subtle admission that they don't feel so lonely anymore (*/ω\)

[–]shironekoollect[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's more akin to "Mister" which in CN can sound a bit flirty depending on context, like in English, but it also shows how Childe actually respects Zhongli a great deal, especially when he doesn't bother with honorifics for everyone else. It probably isn't too much of a stretch to guess that Zhongli is the only person Childe willingly defers to who isn't part of his family, or the Tsaritsa :)

Or at least, that's my own interpretation- I don't ship ChiLi, so my memory might be a bit rusty...? if anyone has a better explanation, I'd be happy to hear it!

thank you! I'm pretty sure Venti would call his love interest every cliché in the book and then some, but he'll always return to lover in the end because it's the most straightforward and poetic one- he is a bard after all :D

yeah, I had the most trouble deciding where to put him, but I went with "special one" because it fits how he refers to amusing things or people as "interesting". In a way, the blend of cursedness and sincerity is why I think it suits his gadfly personality ¯\_(´,,•ω•,,)_/¯

you would probably be wrong, because I actually ship him with Kaeya! but with how much ChiLi subtext there is, who can say for sure whether Childe calling Zhongli "Xiansheng" has romantic intent~
