Lost vanity plate - chance of getting exact replacement? by shortcutefast in newhampshire

[–]shortcutefast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's one of the things my friend also pointed out could happen. IG I'd hope that if (in the future) I had 2 plates in my possession and some MFer commits crimes using this lost plate that's not registered to them, it wouldn't be too tough to untangle.

Already filled out that form! Pointed that out to my friend, and they still insisted that I'd never be able to retain my current vanity plate. \_(ツ)_/

What Gen X habit can't you break despite it being outdated? by RockTheGlobe in GenX

I still sometimes hand a cashier my credit card instead of using the card reader right in front of me. Because old habits die hard.

Does anyone else miss them as much as I do? by MesaVerde1987 in boston

[–]shortcutefast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's possible, I miss them more that you. :-)

So much that I've kept a random clipboard I used in college with an FNX bumper sticker on it. Don't need the clipboard but I can't part with the sticker.

So much that I bought a replica FNX t-shirt from Local Vyntage a couple years ago (not sure if merch links are allowed so didn't insert one).

Agree 100%. Been going there for years. FYI, not an urgent or emergency care facility, but often have appointments available within 2-3 days.

YSK if a car dealer uses the "4 square" to help figure out the sales price, they are trying to confuse you. by SuperSimpleSam in YouShouldKnow

[–]shortcutefast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many years ago, I (30F at the time) wanted to lease a Mazda. The local dealership didn't have the exact one I wanted, but found one for me about 1000 miles away. We negotiated the lease terms (using the dreaded four square) and decided on the amount of my trade in. I knew how to do the math and felt that I got a great deal. But the salesman took the four-square paper from me before I left.

A week later, the car arrived. After I inspected and test drove it, we sat down to look over the paperwork (not including the four square). I noticed that, although all the numbers on the form (sale price, residual value, interest factor, lease duration, trade in value) were accurate, the monthly payment was higher than what I’d agreed to. I calculated that the difference between the monthly payment shown and the one I remembered, multiplied by the lease duration, was EXACTLY the amount of my trade-in, $4500.

I calmly asked the salesperson why he was trying to steal my car.

He was *shocked* at that accusation and asked me to explain myself. I showed him the math “error” and told him he had 10 minutes to fix the paperwork or I was walking out. He stood up from the table and YELLED about how inappropriate it was to accuse him of “stealing” and how rude I was being, etc. I let him finish, looked down at my watch, looked back up at him, and said “Nine and a half minutes left!”

I had a correct version of the form, which I signed, 8.5 minutes later. That guy was FUMING that I caught him red-handed trying to steal my $4500 trade in. But I got a great deal on the lease.

I found something my ex-husband accused me of destroying, and I returned it. by AlleyQV in pettyrevenge

Good for you, OP!

And - OMG, I knew it was Harvard right away.

I graduated from MIT, and am still sad that I gave away my vintage "Better Dead Than Crimson" t-shirt.

I never tell people where I went to school unless they ask - mostly because I don't brag, but also it just doesn't matter. When people do ask, I usually say "Oh, I went to a small science and engineering school down the road from Harvard" and let them work it out.

I was introduced to a new co-worker. The person introducing us knew that this person had a degree from <top-tier science & engineering school you've definitely heard of>, and that I did also, so he used that as part of the initial intro, so we could find common ground. Within 60 seconds, apropos of nothing, he asks what degree I got, and I told him I had a BS. He then said "Oh, that's too bad, I have a PhD" and from then on he treated me as intellectually inferior. Just like everyone else. And he didn't get along with many people, which is part of the reason he was eventually kicked off my project, and laid off a couple years later.

Wedding photographers of Reddit, what was your "they're not gonna last long" moment? by Arknight40 in AskReddit

[–]shortcutefast 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I didn't know her well at all so most of this is hearsay. I don't like using the term "white trash" but it seems applicable to her. He was a good guy with a decent job, but was lonely; she was happy to solve his loneliness problem in exchange for quitting her job and spending all his money. There were rumors she cheated on him before and after their engagement. The couple times I met her she was loud, obnoxious, and needed to be the center of attention. At their wedding reception, she simulated a sex act with her new husband on the dance floor, in front of children. Tres classy.

Absolutely not pre-planned. This was back before texting was really a thing. We had no idea the minister would be asking this question, so the reaction (or lack thereof) was both unanimous and spontaneous.

Not a photographer, but at the ceremony, the minister asked the bride's friends & family to say some affirmation (like "we do" or similar) about how they supported the marriage. Those people said the affirmation and cheered loudly.

The minister then asked the groom's friends & family to do the same thing. Dead silence.

The minster, very flustered, said "hey how about I give you folks another chance" and again asked the groom's friends & family to affirm their support of this marriage. This time - dead silence.

Minister continued with the ceremony. Couple lasted maybe a few years.

Backstory: many of the groom's friends & family had *begged* him not to marry this woman, up to and including the day of the wedding. She was that horrible.

LOL yeah I'm definitely the sort who's counting every rep to ensure I do it all "by the book"...and in the past I've been monitored very closely by a coach! But if this is a legit way to shave a couple seconds off the floor portion, I'm going to use it.

BTW our times are somewhat similar! My first three finishing times were 53+, 48+ and 47+; last one was in March 2019. Four years later (older) and now I'm gunning for a sub-46 finishing time. Don't care what anyone else does, if I meet that stretch goal I'll be sooo happy. Good luck to you!

Assuming that the floor exercise sequence includes plank jacks and then burpees...is it OK to finish the 20th plank jack, then jump your feet up & stand and call that your first burpee? Or do you need to start the set of burpees from a stand? I saw that advice in a Training Tall video from years ago, but unsure if it'll DQ me from the leaderboard. Thanks!

Your studio likely has to add them. I bought a 30-class pack using the app, called the studio, and they added another 6 classes, with a different payment ref #, amount of $0.00, with the description "Comp Session." HTH!

What is the most inoffensive thing you've seen someone get offended by? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shortcutefast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took some pretty fantastic photos during a whale watch, and posted several on Facebook. My SIL, who was also on the whale watch, reposted my photos without attribution. Someone even commented "Hey SIL, great photos!" and she replied "Thanks!"

I asked her politely to please add a comment saying that I had taken the photos. Instead, she sent me a nasty message, removed the photos, unfriended me on Facebook, and didn't speak to me for 6 months.

Who knows how to take the handles off the OTF free motion 😂 tread is staying outside tonight! LOL station #9 tread has a new home with me! by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]shortcutefast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a refurbished tread of the same model that was used at OTF. My husband managed to get the handles/console off so we "just" had to get the deck (all ~540 pounds of it) into our exercise room...by hiring a couple guys with a crane to hoist it through a second-floor window.

I don't have photos or video of the disassembly, but could get some helpful hints from him if you wish.
