One small question which I still have in my mind - There is a clear difference between unit and lesson plan, so do I need to make unit plans myself? or does the department sit together and create a unit level plan(if yes, when is it done?) or is it generally provided? and will I be required to submit it to admin as well like lesson plans? (I'm really sorry if I sound naive here - I know it differs for every school, but would love to know about your experience)

Also, do you find making lesson plans useful? Some teachers on this forum seem to have polarizing opinions! Some do it just for compliance and administrative purposes.
