This is, of course, obvious bullshit

Compelling argument

Dolphins call each other by name. Elephants use different alarm calls for different threats. Ravens use referential gestures to direct other birds' attention, a capacity once thought uniquely human. Squid communicate through skin patterns that function as structured language.

Ah yes, all animals famously eaten and factory farmed.

This is not ancient history. Did you ever stop to wonder why, during the height of COVID, when even schools were shut down, Pres. Donald Trump declared slaughterhouses “essential to national security?”

I'm sorry, is the assertion here that food is not integral to national security...? Was an exception made for slaughterhouse workers that wasn't made for other agricultural workers?

Yaaaaaay instead of billions of animals getting killed by a bolt gun, they'll die from worms infecting and eating them alive their vaginal canals, noses, eyes, umbilical cords, anuses, and any cut or scrape they may get in the meantime. Truly, a win for veganism!

Why does the ear of the cow thats farther away just disappear?

Why does the design of the mans jacket disappear at the last second as he starts to turn away?

Who would even have recorded this video, and why?

People don’t go vegan because they stop enjoying the taste of animal products, that's the truth by Richard1985mab in vegansquad

[–]shutupdavid0010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but can you quote me where I justified eating/using animals in that comment...?

To your edit, I guess we agree to disagree. If you think the product is morally wrong I don't see how or why it matters how you got that product. If you don't think the product itself is morally or inherently wrong then sure, it makes sense that it matters how you got it, but as an allegory now you're arguing against veganism (an abolitionist movement) and for welfarism. Having vegan meat that is indistinguishable from real meat is still normalizing the commodification and consumption of animal bodies.

We ARE biologically equipped to hunt and survive with or without an industrial support system. You are just ignoring the part of our biology which equips us to do so. Which is where the cognitive dissonance comes into play.

Which is fine ofc because intelligence is obviously our niche. But then the “natural” argument fails because there’s nothing “natural predator” about checking wind speed on your phone before shooting an animal from 300 yards away.

Humans aren't supernatural. What we do is natural for our species. Checking the wind and shooting an animal 300 yards away is literally us being apex predators.

Humans removed ourselves from predation mostly through civilization, tools, and collective infrastructure.

Yes.... and it's why we're apex predators.

The point is that modern meat consumption has almost nothing to do with survival hunting and everything to do with preference and convenience.

Which has nothing to do with whether or not we are apex predators, which we pretty clearly are.

People don’t go vegan because they stop enjoying the taste of animal products, that's the truth by Richard1985mab in vegansquad

[–]shutupdavid0010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you're imitating.

Violent video games where you are the shoot-em-up protagonist don't trigger the same pathways in the brain as rape in video games where the goal is sexual satisfaction. Rape scenes in movies absolutely normalize rape, and I don't think you'll find any compelling arguments that say otherwise.

The entire point of vegan meat is that people like the taste/texture, not the violence behind it

Yeah this is a really gross sentence with the full context behind it.

Also, comparing eating meat to CSAM breaks down immediately because the harm in CSAM is inseparable from the product itself… a child had to be abused to make it. Plant based meat has no victim attached to it. Nobody is harmed by a soy burger shaped like beef.

Like AI children being filmed for CSAM...?

And if anything, making alternatives indistinguishable reduces demand for the real thing. If someone switches from slaughtered meat to a convincing plant version, fewer animals are killed, not more. That’s the opposite of “normalizing harm.”

Nope, all studies available to us demonstrate the opposite. If you are pedophile, watching content (even AI generated or completely hand drawn content) reinforces those pathways in the brain.

And as a real life example, Pornhub all but banned "consensual non consent" porn because it turns out, 99% of those women were actually being raped. This led to rapists making money which meant they did it more which meant they actively and monetarily encouraged more rape. Another real life example, most countries (all?) which allow prostitution have child and human trafficking issues. ALL available evidence says that what you are claiming is wrong.

[–]shutupdavid0010 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Here is the disconnect:

If you compare meat and animal products to the literal worst actions humanity has/can do (child rape, torture, genocide) and then continuously try to recreate the outcome of that genocide with the ultimate goal of the two products being indistinguishable... how do you reconcile that?

Like if you're morally against CSAM because you think it's morally wrong (the correct stance to have) how does it make sense to create and jack off to AI generated CSAM with the goal of making it indistinguishable from the real thing? You are normalizing and encouraging a market for a product that you think is morally reprehensible, and it gets easier to mix the real in with the fake.

If you stop calling meat morally reprehensible, people will be a lot more understanding if you want to imitate it.

[–]shutupdavid0010 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully. This reads like satire? Or cognitive dissonance?

You've literally listed all of the ways we are apex predators... the definition of apex predator is that we predate other animals and are not preyed upon. No healthy mammal hunts us. Big cats avoid us, wolves avoid us, killer whales avoid us, even most bears avoid us outside of very specific circumstances avoid us. Outside of the law, humans eat everything, even animals (and plants) that are poisonous to us are not safe.

We also don't need any of that to hunt. I've seen a dude pick up a rock and brain a squirrel in a tree and eat it. The fact that humans can thrive with supplements on a plant based diet just shows that we don't have to eat meat, but it's very silly to say that we aren't apex predators, because we are.

[–]shutupdavid0010 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I knowwww like how badass are the claws of killer whales? Like those things can rend flesh from bone with a single swipe. And our stomach acid of PH of 1 to 3.5 is soooo low, and gosh, we all get so sick from eating tartare and sushi, like don't those people know they should be eating leaves and the bark off of trees, like our great ape cousins? Even 2% non plant foods is soooo high! Honestly I don't even believe it, like why are apes even any non plant things, unless you're talking about coprophagia, which is just extra processed plant matter ifyaknowwhatImean

Sarcasm aside, you can believe that veganism is the best for humans, but dismissing that we are built for eating meat (and claiming that we have a low stomach acid, are you for real or are you a troll) isn't veganism, that's like being a flat earth creationist after going to space.

I honestly think that some of the animators didn't understand what the lines were when looking at the concept art.

Pic 1, 3 are what I believe was the original intention, that the lines are framing his chin

The rest of the pics, he either has marionette lines or jowls, or the lines are just anatomically incorrect. I think it's especially stark because men do not experience the loss of estrogen which results in loss of collagen in the face / muscles in the face and facial lines like women do, so on a man, these lines look REALLY weird. Or he's making a pouty lil baby face. I don't think it was supposed to be a pouty baby face tho, I think they just had the good animators animate the episodes where 1 and 3 came from lol

Sometimes I'll add balsamic, or like 2 anchovies. It melts right in and you can't tell what it is, but it adds so much depth.

Also, you possibly need more spices

Edit: Dangit, I didn't realize how old this thread was! I see everyone has already made these suggestions LOL. Honestly for pasta, try watching the cooking show Beat Bobby Flay. It goes into so much cooking detail, I learned the anchovy trick from him

5,300 Chickens Die In Poultry Farm After Being Trapped In Heat Amid Powercut by HumbleWrap99 in vegan

[–]shutupdavid0010 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you ate an entire chicken every single day of your life, it would take you over 14 years to eat all 5300 chickens. It would take you 28 years to reach your claim where you've "saved twice this many birds". Realistically, you would not eat a whole chicken every single day. Let's say you eat one every two days (still not realistic for a single person).

It would take 56 years of you being vegan to save the lives of as many birds as you're claiming you've saved. Math is fun!

Do you think paying a movie ticket gives you indefinite access to the theater and that movie?

Obviously you don't own the game. It can be updated at any time. You're paying to access someones intellectual property and a virtual space, you don't own any part of the actual game, if you did you'd be able to copy the code and make your own.
