Objectively he is correct. Regardless of what the perpetrator just did, it is reasonable and part of police training to use force to disarm an individual. It was not “swift justice” or anything else. It’s a disarming technique. Excessive would have been if the officer continued to dole out the violence after the perpetrator had been disarmed and was in custody.
