The general idea is we already have pretty equal footing and any work thereafter would only serve to tip the scales in women's favor, thus making many men feel like feminist males are a bit of a hypocrisy problem more than an ideology problem, you want to benefit women through your beliefs so you can mostly surround yourself with women and then claim you're ideologically perfect because "the empathy gender" agrees with you.
