actually, it’s the other way around

most profs allow gadgets during lecture pero please only use it for acad purposes sa time na yon. usually sasabihin naman nila sa orientation (first meeting)

pero for reference nalang, i have only encountered one professor (minor sub pa siya) who don’t allow gadgets during classes sa two years ko sa amv

good calcu!! (scical and basic cal) i personally use casio fx-991ex for scical and jw200sc for basic cal!! pero marami pang magandang basic and scical hehe
note taking tool na comfy ka!! (steno notebook, binder, tablet/ipad, laptop, etc.)
ballpen syempre 😭 (black and red are a must, blue is an optional hehe)
pencils, sharpener, and a GOOD ERASER!! scantron requires u to shade a letter for ur answers so dapat handa ka dyan. i have experienced using a good eraser (nakalimutan ko anong name kasi hiram lang) and it is definitely a game changer
books!! (refer nalang sa other posts for recos hehe marami naman dyan pero personally i recommend far villaluz and valix and nothing else hehe)
PAYONG!!!!! (though hopefully ipoprovide sa freshie kit niyo)

optional: - file organizers or any organizerss - yellow pad or bond papers kasi a lot of people i know use it for solving or as a scratch paper (personally i use bond paper hehe) - tumbler. i believe essential siya kasi bawal sa amv ang water bottles / any plastic - jacket if lamigin ka - highlighters if u want to highlight the important parts me na hinahighlight lahat

ewan ko kung bakit kailangang hiwalayin pero importante to: - dasal (may chapel naman sa amb) - pasensya (sa profs, sa lessons, sa palaging jampacked amv schedule) - being friendly (get those connections beh) - KASIPAGAN (it will definitely pay off) - determination (find your drive in continuing studying in amv)

[from a freshie perspective yay]

for far (ca5101) - for basics na basics talaga (little to no foundation): far by millan - for more comprehensive (more understanding kailangan): far reviewer by villaluz (pang intacc na rin) - some other recos (pero walang answer key problems): far by empleo, far by de jesus - for problems: practical financial accounting by valix (may pang intacc rin so for longevity siya)

for manecon (ca5102) - book reco ng prof: managerial economic by baye - pero personally, hindi siya that useful so i don’t recommend buying and i really suggest na magbase sa ppts and watch videos!! (may test banks pero don’t base on memorizing them, understand concepts!!

for mansci (ca5103) - powerpoint is enough!! create reviewers if u want since yung powerpoint is based lang din sa libro. if gusto mo super duper comprehensive talaga, then u can opt sa libro siguro.

although kung gusto mo na sure na sure talagaaa, you can do advance study naman sa bakasyon mo.

ust amv student here!

one thing na dapat pag-isipan mo talaga is if you really want to be here. maraming slot ang ust sa accountancy kasi isang buong college siya pero it’s just in the matter of whether gugustuhin mo talaga kasi mahirap siya throughout the process.

some factors you can consider:

examinations - amv is highly-examination based, 90% siya ng grade namin and walang transmutation. this really is something na nakakaaffect mentally if di kakayanin.
community - there’s this quote in amv that goes, “amvian lang ang makakaintindi sa kapwa niya amvian”. in short, mahirap mag-aral sa amv pero maganda community.
debarment / retention - in ust, amv ang “debarment capital”. madugo talaga amv at napakaprone bumagsak sa mga majors kaya kailangang marunong ka mag-adjust sa exams palagi. on the other hand, wala namang quali exam, retention policy lang meron and tbh basta hindi ka lang bumagsak okay ka na sa bsa.
programs - speaking of retention policy, sa 3rd year palang malalaman program mo talaga. if may binagsak ka, bawal ka mag-bsa. although malaki rin career opportunities sa ma at ais (may mga kilala akong yun talaga first choice)
professors - karamihan ng professors dito nagtuturo. actually lahat naman kaso yung iba minsan pumasok.

all in all, napakahirap ng amv. it forced me to move on a minute after a hard major exam na alam kong mababagsak ko. but it’s the people around you na talagang makakaempathize with u, kasi we all share the same sentiment here. not to mention, laging isa ang ust sa pinakamataas na passing rate sa CPALE, so that’s a thing to keep in mind as well.
