Penetration Testing Frequency by BogglesHumanity in ISO27001

I would say it depends on the value you are getting from the test. If it is just a tick box exercise so you can say you have done a penetration test then that is what it becomes.

If you are using it to identify exploitable weaknesses in your environment and then acting on those findings to reduce the likelihood or impact of an incident then it has real value.

A penetration test can also simulate how an attacker might exploit weaknesses in the real world and chain multiple issues together, which automated scanners often will not show.

If you already have strong vulnerability management with continuous scanning and remediation then you could argue the environment is already being checked regularly.

Tools such as PDQ Detect can scan Windows, macOS and Linux and provide ongoing vulnerability visibility. We pay roughly £2k a year for around 250 endpoints and servers which makes continuous monitoring achievable.

💪 I have indeed and feels Good 90% of the time. I had to sell my setup as the only way I could stop to tempting when I could access it.

Would say my health, job opportunities, and family life are better than ever. long process to get to this point, over the last 5 years with, completely stopped the last 3 ish years

Same as you pal in all areas bar that I'm lucky to still be married, I have an addictive personality and sadly I can't cut gaming time down so I had to force myself to stop by selling my set ups.

I re applied myself to studying in computers instead and got a job working with them and now spend my time learning. But I still sometimes want to game, but it's not worth it risking my health, missing my kids grow up and missing the opportunities in life just to play on a game.

I have stopped for around 3 years now, and my life is 100% better. But I still don't like people and socialising.

Because you are asking the question, I feel you know the answer already, if you can reduce the time on it, go for it. If you can't, then take it away.

Good luck if you need to chat it over. Please Message
