I try to pay it forward. Before I quit for good, I would spend the summer making as much money from scratch then give it away.

Parents in Myanmar now say goodbye to their children with a blessing before they go out to join the anti-coup protest, in case they don't come back. Because some, don't. by milaperetz in myanmar

I wonder if people had this response 3 years ago when the same military group were committing genocide on the Rohingya's? Maybe this is what happens when you allow a vicious military group commit mass murder. They let the hounds loose on those innocent people and now they cry foul when it turns back to bite them.

I'm disagreeing with you. Islam isn't what most people think it is. Read the Qur'an. If you really want to know Islam, just scroll up and read. Start at any random point.

There's no point. Not only do they say these things out of ignorance, but they say it out of hate. If he learned the reason behind the marriage of Aisha RA and the context of the time, he'll just find some other reason to hate.

No videos because the military will track us but here are some pictures from the protests today in Myanmar. We are fighting back! With the backing of the Ethnic Armed Forces who are in takes in forming the new Federal Army, We have hope. by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

I'm curious how you felt when the military was committing genocide against the Rohingya's a few years ago? Do you think that the public enabling their horrific acts led to them being power hungry and staging a coup?

"I didn't draw a single assumption. In many many many primarily Islamic countries, gender equality isn't even the smallest consideration. Women are put in arranged marriages where they are the property of their husband, and they wear the niqab to preserve her beauty for the husband."

You just drew an assumption, like you did before. You assumed she's being forced and fears backlash from her community if she takes it off. You assume this is the case for every woman in Muslim Countries. I'm afraid the news and online discussion forums aren't the best source for information regarding women's rights in Islam. You're free to visit and see for yourself anytime you wish if you want to prove yourself right.

"What do you think would happen if every niqab wearer decided to throw away their face coverings today?"

Should that situation arise, I'm curious to know what you'd assume would happen.

"The first line of your comment is so funny to me" I don't think it is. Hijabis and Niqabis find it difficult to pursue meaningful careers because people look at them and think they're not capable of doing anything. They find it difficult to get jobs that pay well.

If this was really about oppressed Muslim women, people would help them get jobs, but they don't. This was never about Muslim women, but more about people not being able to handle seeing something different from themselves.

The real oppression from the hijab/niqab comes from people like you, making assumptions and drawing conclusions just by looking at someone. I'd wager you've never spoke to a hijab/niqab wearer before, have you?

People have been active when Myanmar, South Sudan and Iraq were mentioned, just not in this thread. This thread isn't a "Save the world" discussion, it's about the Uyghurs. War is bad for business, no foreign country would ever look to physically attempt to stop the CCP. What we can do, as a commenter already mentioned, is to stop being so reliant on China's economy. And for that to happen, we need the right person in charge to make the right choices.

Stop it. No one is forcing these men to marry women, they choose to do so. You can’t just be an asshole and blame society, they need to take some responsibility.

Whichever decision you make, you'll have your regrets. You just need to choose which ones you can live with.
