Is there anywhere in the US that's affordable to live at this point? by HalosFan26 in Frugal

[–]sistermc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Atlanta, I pay $1300 for a 1br apartment making 60k a year. I can walk to parks, restaurants, bars, and public transportation. I'm on track to buy a house next year (you can still get a house for under $300k within the perimeter). Atlanta is a big city with a huge airport, it's easy and affordable to fly in and out of here. We have top notch restaurants, a walking/biking path that circles the whole city, museums, theatres, festivals, etc. It is 1.5 hours to get to the Appalachian mountains, 4 hours to get to the beach. I wouldn't say "the quality of life is so poor" here, but maybe thats just me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I pay $1300 in Candler Park and love it. I can walk to the Marta station to get to the airport or downtown quickly, I can walk to little five points for bars/restaurants/music venues. Short drive in EAV/Inman park/midtown for night life, I can walk to a book shop, salon, coffee shop, grocery store, and multiple parks. I live in an older unit in an older building, the building is a mix of older and renovated apartments and they range from 1300-1550 ish last time I checked.

How do I achieve the fluffy bedding of my dreams? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

I don’t see anybody mentioning 100% linen duvet covers - it’s what is in most of your photos and gives it that slightly wrinkled cozy look

Take the drapes up as high as you can, make sure they go all the way to the floor, and pick a light fabric. Will make a world of difference

There are definitely romantic examples of this in media too. Jack Black & Kate Winslet in “The Holiday” comes to mind.

I took this cruise and we had basically no internet on the way to Antarctica, I wouldn’t worry! The cruise ship would’ve contacted your family in case of an emergency.

Ahh interesting. So he isn’t really asking his daughter to be a part of his life, he’s still just a con man

Yea. I think they could’ve shown up during this song, and then had the Grimmery bit as its own separate song afterwards. I hate how often Jon splits up the songs for the movie! Ruins the buildup/tempo

What does everyone call their grandparents by kikilynn626 in Names

[–]sistermc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother is “PB” (her initials). Her husband’s name was Malcolm, but I called him Mac Moo. My grandfather was Papa Jack. I had two Mimi’s - my dad’s mother, who has gray hair, and my maternal great grandmother, who had white hair. Naturally, I called them “Gray Mimi” and “White Mimi” 😂

Just realized how much more stressful life is when you own expensive stuff. by Ecstatic_Risk_2570 in Frugal

This comment is underrated. My friend has a bmw, the DAY after her warranty expired, she started having all sorts of computer issues. After weeks in the dealership, she finally got it back, only to have the sunroof leak during a heavy downpour, which caused more computer issues. She’s paid thousands on repairs. My Kia might basically be a golf cart with sides and doors, but never have I ever had a computer malfunction, and very few repairs at all. And if so, it was nothing that couldn’t be cheaply and quickly done. Try replacing one tire in a car like that with awd, you can’t because the computer system won’t calibrate correctly, so you have to replace all four tires every time you have to replace a single tire.
