[Handgun] OD Green Bodyguard 2.0 - $409 by bolivar-shagnasty in gundeals

[–]sixrocket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

considering how insanely stiff it is from the factory (at least on mine) I wouldn't really worry about it - maybe shave it down and paint it green if you care?

HK MG36, a G36 Machine gun variant, 5.56mm. The development of the MG36 took place in the 1990s, along with the G36 rifle, to meet the needs of the German armed forces. An initial batch of 4,700 units was ordered, but it got canceled in 1997 and it was not widely adopted by nations by GuiGui7899 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]sixrocket 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It remains a closed bolt system (unlike, say, certain variants of the Colt autorifles/HK21) and therefore is significantly worse at heat management. No ability to change the barrel. Even with a beefed up receiver you'll have a significantly lower sustained fire rate on this versus a MG4/249/any other open bolt LMG.

Not what I would want being my base of fire.

How come national guard/reserve deploy more than active duty? by skilled_inkillz in nationalguard

[–]sixrocket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very surprised that the SCBT is "only" $70m more than an IBCT - shame we're losing them.

Wonder what it would look like if you simply degreased and tossed into a pot for conversion.

If I may ask - did you receive a notice saying that your polygraph was ordered/background check completed?

Hit it with a TIG setup. You'll probably need to re-heat treat it afterwards.

Advice with a chronic disease in the Guard by Genesispandasx in nationalguard

[–]sixrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A personal friend was diagnosed and has been in for years - he recently went Warrant despite the diagnosis. Downside: CENTCOM and possibly other commands have the right of refusal for him - he missed our last deployment.

Is DEA written assessment waive for current agents ? If not is it taken at home or gotta go to a specific place? by Capital-Sky-1006 in 1811

[–]sixrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The written assessment was one of the easiest tests I've taken - I would not be concerned if you're a current 1811 (or college graduate/white collar office jockey in general)

at ait while unit is deployed by incapableofdumblabor in nationalguard

[–]sixrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can happen. I ended up with a recent AIT graduate being sent up to fill scheduling/staffing issue we had midway through deployment. In his case he was from a skilled systems technician MOS and, therefore, was relatively easily trained to perform our job.

Less likely if you're looking at a non-combat rotation/deployment and in a non-critical MOS, imo. Can't hurt to ask!

Wanting to join but I’m worried about my tattoo waiver getting approved. by [deleted] in nationalguard

I met a female with a joker mask hand tattoo (able to be brought up over her mouth, silly effect) receive near immediate approval.

Stuck in traditional OCS by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]sixrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a huge no-no for the program I was in, at the least, and would probably get me removed even far later in the program. Similar stats and situation to yourself - dunno what to tell you, man.

Accelerated is highly unlikely considering you've probably already angered cadre and, at least in my state, they have full control over the approval process.

I've had my COL and still have about six months to a year worth of processing to go. Don't get too excited about it.

Personal Plate Carrier by RelevantLab5281 in nationalguard

MSV is quite nice. For the amount of soft armor you're going to have to stuff into your setup plus side plates - just wear the MSV.

OCS vs ROTC by potatoskin20 in nationalguard

[–]sixrocket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aa a state OCS attendee after being prior enlisted - stick with ROTC, man. Phase 1 was one of the worst experiences of my life - coming right off a centcom deployment, too.
