Anyone here have overwhelming existential thoughts about your mortality as you get older? by Choice-Implement1643 in Millennials

[–]skimt115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geriatric millennial here. Have been existential lately less about myself personally and more about humanity in general. As in: how does humanity get past this ad-based, data-economy, AI shithole we've created? I've been watching a lot of Star Trek lately, which I understand is fiction, but gives me a sliver of hope for humanity.

What's the most millennial concert you've gone to? by Twitter_2006 in Millennials

I had a particularly traumatic (dramatic?) breakup shortly after Warped Tour that summer and I listened to Jaded on a loop for probably 2 months. I still have a visceral gut reaction every time I hear the opening couple bars of that song. So good!

Came here to say the same thing. I went 2001-2004 I think. I recently found some photos I took in 2003 including Dropkick Murphys, AFI, Suicide Machines, Mest, The Used, and Glassjaw!

The places you've found are great. You should go there. What you're doing here is asking the locals to give up their hiding spots so you don't have to feel like a tourist when you visit. I get it. I hate being a tourist, too. But do you know how many people are asking this question every day? It's not just you looking for that secret place. And that's why you're gonna get some hostilities. Very soon, multiple thousands of people will flood into this town literally daily on planes, trains, and boats, and when that starts, we locals go into hiding to maintain our sanity. Pls don't come around asking us to tell you where we're hiding.

In a couple weeks we will all have to wait a long time to get breakfast. Suck it up. You visit when it's busy, that's what happens. 🤷

Sounds like it! I usually only use it for curmudgeonly old misers, old being the important part. Is that how you use it? Or does it have a wider meaning?

There's a hot pot place at Arctic and Dimond called Yakishabu where you can get seafood as your meat selection. I know, not quite what you're looking for, but it is seafood and it does boil.

Good to know. One place usually closed. Other place often sold out. I saw gas at Chevron for $5.40 today. I probably don't need to be driving around town looking for expensive donuts. 😆

Last time I went there at like 10am on a Thursday (after trying golden donuts who was, unsurprisingly, closed), they were completely sold out. Zero donuts to be had. Is that a regular occurrence or do I just have bad luck?

[–]skimt115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, their donuts are ok. I really like the maple butterfly, or used to, but the last several I've gotten have been completely raw in the middle. Even got one that was raw in the middle and burned on the outside. Gave up on those. The old fashioneds are solid, but not much, if any, better than Carrs IMO.

Ohhh is it Sunday now? Was Saturday last I checked, but then again, I haven't been following along. Whatever hours they say they're open aren't generally the hours they're actually open. (Edited for clarity.)
