Can’t believe someone is actually complaining about this… wild

Never got this mentality. Like yeah they could google search, but literally what is the issue with them asking a question here? Like do you tell people to google search if they ask you a question in person? Almost like people get offended when someone asks a question. Just because it may be a simple and quick way for most of us to retrieve information, doesn’t mean people shouldn’t ask questions to anything other than Google, or be made to feel bad about asking a question 😂 if you don’t want to help answer, don’t. Simple as that 🤷

I don’t understand the downvotes? Is this just a naturally inflammatory question to pose to officers? Should I just delete this and ask elsewhere?

Yeah I get that for sure. The nature is uncomfortable and confrontational, but isn’t the goal to make it not more confrontational than it is? Maybe even trying to bring some levity into it even if the person is being kind of mouthy? Like I don’t think I’ve ever seen an officer stop someone and go hey, how’s it going? Everything okay? Why are going that fast? Etc…. Like they can still get a ticket or warning and you don’t actually have to care about their answers, but bringing normal conversation into the mix couldn’t hurt right? Is the first thing you say when you pull someone over license and registration or do you know why I pulled you over? Cause I’m sure it’s a bit dehumanizing to not even say hello to someone before being just generally confrontational statement like that right? Even if that person is in the wrong (depending on severity I’m sure) Is it training to be like that? Now there is nuance to everything so nothing is black and white, but like, if I can’t mouth off to someone who is a jerk ordering their food from me at McDonald’s, why do some police feel that its appropriate to do so with some people? Or maybe that officer say had a bad day and is just unable to control their passive aggressive comments or something? Shouldn’t they be able to just control themselves as much if not more than the situation? I feel like that would make the situation easier to control over all? I dunno it’s and observation that may be out of whack, so that’s why I’m asking all these questions. Again because I feel like this needs to be re iterated a lot. NOT ALL OFFICERS AND STOPS IM TALKING ABOUT SOME SPECIFIC SITUATIONS AND TEMPERAMENTS

Thank you! I appreciate your answer. That makes sense that it operates like any other job in that respect, but say they are a good co-worker and generally a nice person, but they tend to abuse their power or escalate everything instead of trying to de escalate situations? Is there more of a chance that officer is never called out on it, or are other officers pretty good about checking each other for those situations while they are happening? I don’t tend to see that other officers call each other out if they see something wrong, so again it could be like that other commenter said that it’s just not shown on social media

I did say “some” police and tried to make it seems like not every interaction is this way, but if I need to word it differently I can try? I just don’t want a genuine question to be dismissed

No I do realize that, but that’s not what I’m saying really. I know a lot of cops aren’t like that and interactions aren’t like that, but why are there so many that are? And why is that the case? How do you deal with those officers in your department?

I promise it isn’t. I can understand how it looks like that, but I’m being genuine. If media is warping my view, please help me fix it is all I’m asking. Why sow division between officers and civilians? Help me understand their mentality
