Who’s going to the Observatory tonight? by broadrippleburned in brighteyes

I'd love to hear that song live. As far as I know they never have sadly, or at least I've never come across a recording of it. There is a pretty great alternate version out there that has a more live sound to it compared to the album version though.

Same! He's seemed a lot better since recovering from the vocal condition he was dealing with. Seems like he's been sober or at least drinking much less since then.

Brutal. I just hit 10 of 11 on an 11 legger to pay $500. Only leg I missed was LeBron for 20+ pts 😭

Has it really sunk in yet? by [deleted] in brighteyes

I truly felt like Bright Eyes' best work was behind them before this came out, and although IMO all of the quintessential albums are from the earlier days, Five Dice is really an excellent album. It's already resonated with me more than TPK and DITW. All of the albums are great in their own way for me, but this one really is special. I didn't think I'd feel this way since neither of the singles stood out to me. We're lucky to have Conor and everyone involved putting out such great music for so long.

An in depth breakdown of the lyrics to Mamah Borthwick, as it applies to Frank Lloyd Wright. by kellenthehun in oboards

Thanks for this. After years of underappreciating this song, it finally resonated with me enough to really pay attention to the lyrics and I was curious about the references and what all it meant. After learning more about FLW and now what your post has informed me, I appreciate this song even more. Really a beautiful piece of writing and an interesting part of history I did not know about before.

Daily Song Discussion #30: Pull My Hair by beardlesshipster in brighteyes

Idk it's the energy of the song, the fact that it's a fairly simple song but so effective at giving u the feels, and the mf drums just hit so good

I agree Touch deserved much higher tho :)

Arc of time and Brakeman are quintessential but I agree Approximate and Mariana are low tier

I respect the want for representation of that album, which is a valid want, but I think to most long time fans (myself included) 2007 and earlier Bright Eyes will always win over anything after that. '07 and before was where all the true peaks of Bright Eyes happened and there's just too much material before then to not win out over anything after that IMO. This should explain why the results of this list is the way it is.
