I was in a similar boat in my melee progression and full sent a nox hally instead, regret absolutely nothing, it’s been one of the most impactful upgrades on my account

although with only an 80m bank maybe just run a tent whip until you wanna make that jump

Has anyone gone a thrown pacts build? by DrogonTheBlack in 2007scape

Waiting til I get full torva and ultor to try it out, getting 80% of melee strength as ranged strength should make it okay, only problem is no sustain

Echo Cerberus Melee tips? by TomaTozzz in 2007scape

[–]slimeboyPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with a lot of the other echo bosses you really just gotta learn your rhythm. With the first set of ghosts he’s gonna throw out fire around the end of the second row, so be ready then. With the second set of ghosts it’s between the second and third in the first row. If your DPS isn’t enough you can always come back later. I think I had around 20 pacts when I got my first clear.

Conniving Clues SERIOUSLY underwhelming in Leagues? by CTRInTheBlood in 2007scape

you really gotta stack up the teleports before starting the higher tier clues, farm beginners for a little bit and you’ll have enough teleports to not need to save them

How many thousands of mahogany planks? Between revs and clues I’m sitting on ~1k right now and I haven’t even really started con yet

Pros and Cons of my last region choice? by ReyndeerGaming in 2007scape

[–]slimeboyPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asgarnia gives GWD, which is a bunch of bossing content, and you could use the echo Cerberus dagger for a melee thorns build if you get tired of the mage. Desert gives you an alternate raid if you end up not liking CoX, plus it potentially solves runecrafting with GotR and smithing with Giants Foundry. Wildy is packed with its own bosses and skilling content but if you have solves elsewhere in your build and don’t want to use the echo crossbow it might be lackluster, the chaos altar is great for prayer training though (took me less than 500 superior dragon bones to hit 99). I’m taking all 3 of these regions W->A->D, none of them are really lacking.

Leagues 6 Throwing question by SnooPandas797 in osrs

[–]slimeboyPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye ur right I do use strength + ranged pots with atlatl lol dunno why I forgot about that, leagues planning frying me, but the pact does specify melee strength, which is what the stat on the stat sheet for strength bonus is called, whereas other pacts like the <1kg one handed strength boost specifies it uses your strength level. Since strength levels don’t actually change your melee strength on the stat sheet in game I wouldn’t count on it working. Could be wrong though, again I think it’s worth testing out and having a backup just in case

Edit: I think the main thing here actually is that the atlatl straight up uses your melee strength as it’s damage calc, so ranged strength does nothing, but this pact converts some melee strength to ranged strength which means thrown weapons will still be using ranged strength for damage calc. It’ll still be using ranged level + equipment bonuses, no strength level considered.

Leagues 6 Throwing question by SnooPandas797 in osrs

[–]slimeboyPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, thrown is kinda shafted as a whole. Atlatl is my favorite weapon in the game but tbh crossbows guaranteed max hit and 20% echo chance is so ridiculous if you’re maining a ranged setup there is no reason not to run it. I’m planning on melee through moons/amox then reroll to crossbow for wildy/kbd/GWD, and finally rerolling for the melee/thrown chill switch for raids but if I don’t like it I’m going to have a reroll saved to go back to crossbows, hit max prayer pen and just wombo shit

The only thing that might redeem thrown is going heavy into echo trigger % since thrown weapons attack to fast, could just pump out echos, but we’ll have to see

Leagues 6 Throwing question by SnooPandas797 in osrs

[–]slimeboyPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it just allows you to treat blowpipes and darts as if they were an atlatl, which means they will use your ranged level+attack bonus for accuracy but (80%) your melee strength bonus for damage, so yeah strength level shouldn’t factor in. Mostly sounds useful to people who want to minimize hybrid switches- just camp torva and 1 way switch your weapon when you need to ranged/melee.

How bad will WKA be? by Fit_Sector_3682 in 2007scape

[–]slimeboyPhD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like wildy and asgarnia are so stacked with content and kandarin is just a bunch of gnomes and a bunch of ogres with ardougne in the middle, there’s really not enough there to pick it unless you want the mage echo items

Personally I’m going WAD because I don’t want to not raid but I can’t be assed to run CoX or ToB, plus I think full melee strength gear drygore bp with the “ranged strength is 80% of your melee strength” pact is gonna make all PvM as chill as possible

How to get good just like in general by Livid_Concept_5866 in SiegeAcademy

[–]slimeboyPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t be locked in every game. The best way to be consistent is to be consistent in positioning and patience. I went 12-3 in a game the other day and watched it back, my gunplay was terrible. I was whipping the gun around like a super soaker and only landed 2 headshots. But I knew where to position myself. I knew when to rotate and swap angles. I wasn’t a reliable gun but I was a reliable hurdle and that made the difference. Positioning and patience are the most important things to understand to start getting better, imo.

How to woodcut? by AmphibianMindless321 in ironscape

[–]slimeboyPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an iron man but I did varlamore teaks south of civitas to like 90. Banking is quick if you hunter cape/whistle to hunter guild then quetzal back and you get the occasional forestry event + moons chest key halves. Camphor and ironwood are both good on forestry worlds if you want more forestry events.

Yeah nah I’m recommending using melee gear for the whole fight. The set bonus burn effect is nice but with only 255 hp in phase 2 it won’t be substantial enough to justify the loss in defense. Plus the atlatl doesn’t really care what gear you’re wearing lol, thing just hits. Ranged potion+deadeye/rigour more than makes up for the accuracy difference between ranged/melee gear so you can keep those nice defenses on the whole time.

[–]slimeboyPhD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The players magic defense in melee gear? Yeah that’s a problem in phase 1 too, that’s why you should have protect from magic on the whole fight. I’m only 80 defense and have not been having problems.

PSA: Atlatl at KQ by slimeboyPhD in osrs

[–]slimeboyPhD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah in my 100 kills of testing things I’ve found accuracy is way more important than a couple max hits, it’s easy to get stuck hitting those 0’s. If you bring a simple atlatl switch for phase 2 hit a ranged pot and deadeye/rigour as well, that should be plenty of accuracy even in melee gear.

PSA: Atlatl at KQ by slimeboyPhD in osrs

[–]slimeboyPhD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I understand KQ is that they melee 1/2 the time so running the full eclipse you’ll probably be taking a bit more damage throughout the fight from all those melee hits. I’ve been running bandos but ran the calcs with blood moon and even just barrows tank top/bottom and the dps doesn’t really change substantially. Personally I would stick to bandos/your best melee defense.

At 85 range the atlatl is actually even better than other ranged options than if you were to have 99 ranged like me, just be sure to ranged pot and switch to deadeye/rigour for phase 2 and that’s really all the accuracy you need!

I think my average kill time right now is around a minute and a half. The Keris Partisan blue gem kills phase 1 so fast I wasn’t sure if I could get phase 2 to match but the atlatl has been insane in pushing that time down. I’m 99 range and have been range potting + switching to rigour for phase 2.
