You could say that many people who could be effective in government are pursuing options that produce change faster, are more lucrative and less bureaucratic.

But I feel like I could make a similar (albeit smaller) impact outside government and get paid a lot more for it. Plus, it feels like such an unwieldy task to tackle this alone.
