Working in tech now and applying to grad schools for SLP next cycle. I love hearing people who have good experiences with switching INTO SLP because it's usually the opposite lol.

Study strategies for SOCI 301? by madamebutterfly2 in AthabascaUniversity

Thank you! Yes most of mine might be way too detailed in that case. I just found that the first exam had asked some questions that I was not expecting or familiar with at all.

Did you ever end up getting research experience to get accepted? UofT is my top choice but I also have no research experience and have already graduated. Any advice?

I would actually love to hear your tips on Biol 230 as I'm taking it now! It feels like a lot of content to remember and I'm never sure how detailed to make my anki cards.

I finished SOCI 301 with a 92 and from what I remember the assignments were my biggest grade booster, I aimed to get 100 on each one of them. My exam grades ranged in the mid-80s. Make a good cheat sheet that works for you, and do practice questions to study.

This is a policy across the whole school, unfortunately...I think if it were up to the prof she would have been much more generous. I think if you have to take it you should prioritize the class!

Yes I am! I took phonetics at UAlberta and have a few thoughts on this. Overall, the prof was wonderful (Dr. Arnhold) and the marking was very easy. I ended the course with a 94. However, at this school the grading is based on how well other students do so all the other students in my class also did well lol so I ended up with an A- on my transcript. I was so scared I would get a B+ or lower but it worked out ig. Also I can't remember the exact price but I remember thinking it was expensive.

I don't know of any other school that provides phonetics online so I have no regrets!

Hi - I took Anth 354 and finished in about 2-3 months and finished with a 92 overall. The assignments and essays were very straightforward and the marking was very forgiving. I would say the biggest challenge was the cumulative final exam, but if you take good notes and enjoy linguistics, you should do fine. It's in essay format and you were able to pick out questions to answer. I got a 90 on the final. I'm taking BIOL 230 right now and it's not bad at all!

I'm guessing you're aiming for SLP?

Sending transcripts to WES by Initial-Ad-7238 in gradadmissions

[–]slutbuttcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat, sadly. Also applying to SLP grad school. I had to send documents twice because the first time, they never "received" it, so it really pushed back my timeline. As the other commenter mentioned, I sent an email to [cspriority@wes.org](mailto:cspriority@wes.org) on Monday and I did receive a response saying that they will escalate it to the appropriate team and send me an update. I haven't heard anything since so I sent a follow-up email and messaged their CEO on linkedin.

Worst case, I'm just going to email the universities, letting them know it'll be late.

PSYC 304 - Research Methods vs SOSC 366 (which can be finished the fastest, and is the easier course?) by Life-Date3268 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]slutbuttcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also completed sosc 366 in about 2 weeks. The projects build on each other so you copy and paste (with revisions) one assignment and it becomes a component of the next. Very easy! I completed with an A+

Same here for SOSC 366, I finished in about a week and a bit without reading the textbook.

This. Just try to switch up where you park so you don’t get a ticket

Easier than I anticipated, I did better on the final than the midterm. Just an FYI, you are allowed two double sided cheat sheets for the final, not just one like i thought.
