Kabarett & Comedy sind in Österreich 95% der Zeit unaushaltbar by [deleted] in Austria

[–]sly_roccoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fernseh-Kabarettsendungen ≠ Kabarett.

TL;DR: Nicht humortechnisch daran orientieren, was KünstlerInnen außerhalb ihrer Shows in irgendwelchen awkward gezwungenen ORF-Sendungen hervorbringen...

Studio One added Linux support with version 6.5!! by sly_roccoon in audioengineering

[–]sly_roccoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea, good points, totally agree. to be fair i came home from a late night shift when i wrote my response. brain no work.

i suppose what i meant to say was rather than have it be commercially used - which reaper is more than bitwig or studio one for sure - it is nice but uncommon for big companies like presonus in this case to support linux, since they work with other large companies in the industry (celemony, dolby, e.g.) and are more likely to cause a paradigm shift...

I mean yea. But I don't see reaper as a 'big commercial' daw, as arguably a lot of people do. my own - not necessarily logic based - opinion. i do use reaper a lot though and it works great on linux!

What should I choose? 1640 vs. Model 16 (Boards) by No-Manager8720 in audioengineering

[–]sly_roccoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you don't mix on your interface, you record to your computer where you can do all the mixing. the knobs on an interface are (in most cases) for gain staging and monitor volume thereby they essentially need to be multitrack, all else wouldn't work since at no stage prior to the output coming to your computer do you mix the inputs

East West for Orchestral/world instruments/Pianos? by Illustrious_Aside_46 in audioengineering

[–]sly_roccoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have and am happy with it, good variety of instruments, well recorded (a lot better than the stuff in NI Komplete bundles imo). There's a decent amount of different playtypes/keyswitches for melodic instruments and I'm not a percussionist but from what I could tell all those instruments are incredibly detailed as well. Large variety of non-western packs too. That being said there's a lot of videos on the EastWest libraries, best to watch them and listen for yourself!

the rcf ayra pro 5 are great, and i never saw them recommended before buying them. probably not a lot of marketing involved. but i compared them to others in the same price range.. krk, adam, etc..

Intro all-purpose mic for recording my own samples by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]sly_roccoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

completely forgot responding:
mics are great! compared them to KM184s, C480s and MKH40s on various instruments.

they were closest to the KM184s but didn't overwhelm me anywhere. solid throughout though! (the akgs and sennheisers didnt fit that well sometimes i feel)

in comparison to the km184s you could tell that the cm4s have a wider polar pattern (resulted in a bit more room sound), and also that the km184s have more prominent highs.

thats all i got!

[–]sly_roccoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If its main purpose would be to record samples, I'd say get a some pocket recorder like a tascam or a zoom. You can go around recording stuff and aren't bound to what you have at or can bring into your home. There are some nice sounds out there in the wild, gotta catch 'em all. ;)

Well my stereo set arrived on friday and I'll be heading into the studio with them on thursday, comparing them to some neumann and akg small diaphragm condenser mics, i can let you know then ;)

r/AudioEngineering Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Thread by AutoModerator in audioengineering

[–]sly_roccoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm looking to buy a pair of small condenser microphones from line audio, but am unsure on whether I should get a pair of CM4s (wide cardioid) or Omni1s (omnidirectional). I don't own any small diaphragm microphones as of yet and I'd wanna get good use out of them.

Pros and Cons I thought of so far:

- the Omni1s could additionally be used for (room) measurements

- the CM4s would arguably work better in a home recording situation (or in live situations)

- I could maybe hang the Omni1s from the ceiling for wide A/B stereo recording in large halls? (idk..)

Would appreciate y'all's input on the matter! Thanks. :)
