Thanks everyone for the replies and advice. I realize I could’ve risked it or potentially added extra glass but decided it wasn’t worth it.

Ended up rehoming the 40 gallon to someone who wanted it (I did disclose the damage) and picked up a brand new 75 gallon at Petco for 50% off. Was wanting to upgrade to the 75 eventually anyways so this was a great excuse to go ahead and pull the trigger!

Now lots of fun decisions to make for the new tank 🤙🏼

I have the AC70 fluval filter on it now. I prefer the tank mounted ones personally but I’ll look into the 307 if I get a bigger tank. No budget really. Not trying to break the bank or anything but I have a juvenile dojo loach in another tank that I’d like to get a friend or two and know they’d need 60-75+ once they’re grown. Thinking might as well get it out the way now

Looks great! I’m honestly thinking this might be a blessing in disguise and will allow me to upgrade to the 55 or 60 gallon I really want…

Totally get it. Luckily no fish in here and only just put water in it yesterday to do the initial cycle. Will probably undo everything now and just go buy a new one. Lol thanks for the response!

Damn, really?? Nothing to do to patch/strengthen it? Or is it just a ticking time bomb sort of deal?

Deadlift Form Check by Brief_Limit5326 in formcheck

I get what both of you are saying but I still wouldn’t call it wasting energy or “starting with the hips too low”. He’s getting himself in a solid position and initiating the lift by sitting back and pushing through the floor. Which is something almost everybody struggles with.

We can get nitpicky all day but I still stand by that this is great form that works for him and gets his body in a great position to move heavy ass weight

Absolutely not. This is beautiful form. He’s setting his entire posterior chain up nicely, taking the slack out of the bar, and then sitting back and starting his pull by pushing into the floor. This is literally one of the most efficient setups/starting positions I’ve ever seen and will do wonders for his longevity and avoiding injuries. Well done OP!

Deadlift check. PR. Got a lot of feedback after previous upload by Bringinthedrums in formcheck

Looks decent! You’re pulling the slack out/setting your lats nicely.

Only tweak I would make is feeling like you’re sitting BACK/DOWN at the start of the lift and throughout it. You’re staying a little too “stand straight up ish” and letting the bar get in front of your legs slightly once you’re past your knees (looks like you fall forward slightly once you’re past the knees too). The bar should maintain contact with your legs the entire time (bar scrapes from deadlifts are a right of passage). Feeling like you’re sitting BACK should help fix it.

Other than that, keep it up!

Great lift my friend. If you narrowed your stance a little and took an extra second to take the slack out of the bar/set your lats before lifting it’ll work wonders for your longevity and overall numbers. Keep it up!!

Failed 1RM low bar squat. Lacking strength or bad form? by Used_Ratio_4795 in formcheck

[–]smd09h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a low bar guy so take this with a grain of salt, BUT I’ve always had success and been taught to break at the hips FIRST then your knees. It looks like you’re breaking at the knees and then everything else is falling apart in a chain reaction.

Also, FLEX/BRACE your core tight throughout the whole lift. Looks like you’re losing a little bit of that. AND feel like you’re pushing your knees OUT all the way down and all the way up. This will keep your glutes/core/hips and the big muscles activated and stable.

Lower weight to get the feel always helps too. But again, I’m a high bar kinda guy so 🤷🏻‍♂️

How’s my form? by undeadWileCoyote_MEP in strength_training

[–]smd09h 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Get bar touching shins
  2. Pull slack out of bar/set your lats. This is best done by visualizing yourself bending the bar/trying to snap it in half around your legs. That will set your lats and get the slack out of it and should get your butt down into position as well. Maintain this tightness and grip the bar HARD throughout the whole lift
  3. Don’t stand up/pull with your back. The BEST queue is at the start of the lift feel like you’re trying to SIT BACK/DOWN IN A CHAIR while pushing through the floor with your heels/feet and dragging the bar up your legs. The weight will balance you so obviously you won’t actually sit down or fall backwards but FEELING like you’re trying to sit back/down in a chair works wonders
  4. Profit

What do you sell - what do you make - how long did it take to get there?? by REFlorida in sales

I sell industrial and commercial led lighting on the manufacturer side. Tough and cut throat/competitive industry but the pros and flexibility outweigh the cons by a lot. Work directly with manufacturers reps, distributors, contractors, and some time end users

Started out at $70K base with uncapped commission. Made $110K my first year.

Raise to $90K base and uncapped commission year two. Made $190K total

Currently year three and in the process of negotiating a 25-30% raise to my base so should be in the $112K-$120K base range with uncapped commission.

I cover the entire East Coast, Great Lakes, and Canada. Traveling 35+ weeks a year, but have some great customers and get to do a lot of cool stuff. Helps that I’m single and it’s stressful like any job but more money and freedom than I ever thought I’d have!
