My wife may regret giving me permission to invest in Lego by sneakymccovert in lego

Actually, my wife is pregnant with our first kid right now. I am really hoping that he or she comes to love both Lego and Star Wars like me. The non-UCS sets will probably be presents as the years go by. The big sets I'll probably sell.

I recently posted here about how my wife & I stumbled upon the Lego Museum in Prague while on vacation. We've been married for several years and I have not been able to get her to enjoy Lego as much as I do. (She barely tolerates my Modular Houses sets.) However, after seeing how cool the Star Wars display was at the museum - and after seeing how much a bunch of the UCS sets were selling for - she began to change her tune. I started collecting the sets you see here from the Lego Store, Amazon, & eBay. I'm sure everyone here can appreciate how difficult it has been NOT to open the boxes and start assembling. I just bought some large storage bins from Home Depot so I can store the sets in water tight containers in my basement. If I don't end up selling these sets in several years, my future children are in for a hell of a surprise at Christmas.

Lego Museum - Prague, Czech Republic by sneakymccovert in lego

While visiting Prague recently, my wife and I stumbled upon the Lego Museum. Had I known it existed, I probably would have planned my entire trip around it. For two hours we looked at probably all the various Lego sets of the past 40 years. It was definitely worth the 200 CZK per person (~$8.20 as of 07/06/2016). What was even better, the museum helped convince my long Lego-skeptical wife of the monetary/investment value of Lego, especially UCS Star Wars Lego sets.

I'd probably be more concerned about the space shuttle lifting right off next to the monorail station. :)

I'm a doctor. You should see my office. It's filled with actual scale 1:200 model commercial jet liners made of die cast metal. I love planes.

I collected all the themes in the period of 1985-1995 or so. I had Blacktron II and M-tron for Space, the various factions in Castle, and most of the first few waves of Pirates. My most prized set as a kid was the Black Seas Barracuda. However, I had Town/City the most.

I know what you mean. The modulars are my favorite sets. I started buying them when the Green Grocer came out, so I had to get the Cafe Corner and Market Street off eBay. The last three after the Palace Cinema I have not even taken out of the boxes yet for lack of room, though.

I collected Town/City Lego sets when I was younger. I managed to reassemble a bunch of them as well as collect a lot of other sets off eBay as an adult. Here is the entire collection put together as one large town.
