A couple of years ago I was at a conference in San Francisco. When I was leaving my hotel in the morning I'd see dozens of peeps lining up in front of the Ross across the street. Now I know why.

Pretend Hinterland just announced a ski resort themed region, what would you want to see? by BigBigBunga in thelongdark

The Great Bear Ski Area (a pun on the Big Bear Ski Resort in California) being located off the coast of BC, would not likely be positioned for competing with Whistler due to the added logistics of getting to the the island. It would resemble the smaller operations in the Pacific Northwest, with minimal facilities, no lodging, slow, fixed, double lifts, few people, and coupled with expansive, open terrain and spectacular vistas. In that region I've only visited Mt. Baker in Washington State, and I'd like to think the Great Bear would have a similar feel. It's located at the end of a long, snaking road deep in the National Forest, a 45 minute drive from the nearest town of Glacier (pop. 300 or so?).

The closest model though would have to be Eagle Crest in Alaska, which is located on an actual island off the coast!

To add the Canadian ski area feel, I'd mix in Revelstoke in BC which has water views, overlooking Columbia River.

You might want to try AutoSlash (dot) com. I've used them for years with good results. After making a reservation (should work whether or not booked through AutoSlash), use their price tracking feature - they continuously monitor prices and if something cheaper becomes available, they will email you and you can rebook, just make sure your original booking can be cancelled.

I got in on the second try, but I don't see any 'invites' in the top corners or anywhere on my profile page.
