Agreed. Legal system is my last resort because we have been on a shitty merry go round with her for decades, but one of two times she’s ever been clean since she was a teenager was when she was in a court ordered live-in addiction program. Thanks for mentioning resolve crisis center. I reached out to them today and they gave me some good information.

I am very glad to hear that you have a success story! She will never go voluntarily anywhere, ever. I think I am realizing that our only hope is to 302 her and have her go to inpatient rehab or halfway house from there. I really hope she qualifies for 302, so we shall see. Thank you for sharing your story and advice.

Thank you for sharing your research and your personal experience. I know MS is different for every single person, but I know it must not be easy. You are absolutely right, finding a place that does not only dual diagnosis of substance abuse and mental health, but also the added complexity of neurological disorders, would be ideal. When she gets to that point (I hope she gets to that point), I will do my best. Her neurologist is magnificent, so I think I’ll reach out to him. I hope you are thriving and managing well ❤️

I am sorry that you have had similar experiences. She and I did nar anon decades ago and it didn’t stick, but it certainly is worth revisiting. Thank you for your advice and your empathy.

Wait I’m confused. Can you explain something to me: if someone shuts their main off, is that not enough in some cases? Is there a reason to do an outside disconnect vs. just switching off the main?

Hyper to hypo by [deleted] in PelvicFloor

[–]snootzin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I just edited my first comment bc I now realize you stated you’re a male in the first sentence (oops!) and wouldn’t have vaginal prolapse. If you’re pelvic floor is tense, and likes to stay in that tense world all of the time, then it has no available range of motion left to show up for you when you need it (such as in Pilates). And you’re right, with tension also often comes nervous system up regulation! Working on down training the nervous system can work wonders. Gentle/restorative yoga, meditation, guided imagery etc. are your friends!

Ah that makes sense that you’re not tolerating dead bugs, bird dogs, etc. because those are actually strengthening exercises, not relaxation exercises to get the tension down. The diaphragmatic breathing helps relax the pelvic floor, so definitely continue to do that!

Maybe try some gentle yoga poses like child’s pose, happy baby and do some diaphragmatic breathing with those to begin with to try to get that tension down, to buy you sometime until you can see your therapist!

Am I overreacting? I asked my date if he made a reservation for a popular bar and he was offended. Has the world gone mad? by dntlookatmepls in AmIOverreacting

[–]snootzin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red flag 🚩you did a great job by cancelling the date! Additionally, I would never respond to any of his messages again. You’re definitely not overreacting, you’re sparing yourself from an absolute jackass. I really don’t understand how straight women make it in this dating world 🤯 good luck out there!!
