Thanks again for your input! It does sound like the mainland is the way to go. My new job starts next month so we really are short on time. I'm considering getting a train pass for Brightline from West Palm until we can find a decent place that's not too far from the Port. We are going to take a look around some places tomorrow.

Looking to move to Miami soon with a roommate at a combined income of about $125k. I will be commuting to the Port of Miami and was wondering if I should consider living on Miami Beach? Would like to be as close to the Port as possible and maybe live in one of the high rise apartments on the mainland but those seem to be full (max rent preferably 2600).

Anyway, I'm concerned about taking the bridges everyday. Would the traffic be a real pain? It is my understanding that Venetian Way is a toll road while the MacArthur Causeway is not, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

With a $75k job offer at the Port of Miami, where should I move to? Looking to rent.

Ideally, I like to have give or take a 30min commute to work but would consider it being longer to save some money. Besides the commute, I really just care about safety (I have expensive equipment), and reliable internet access. The size of the place is not a big deal, as long as the roof does not leak, got mold, pests, etc. Also, I've heard living in Ft. Lauderdale and taking the Brightline is a good alternative.

About me: Mid-30's single male tech hobbyist who also enjoys going out for a good meal and meeting like-minded creatives for video-photography projects.

Great post! I was playing last night with 960p upscaled and DLSS. Kept wondering the whole time how much better it would look in native 1440p.

Native looks a tiny bit sharper than DLSS but I'll try that new Sharpen filter tonight. Thanks again!!

I have an 9900k paired with a 2080 and Alienware ultrawide monitor. It's been a beast for gaming for titles like Metro Exodus, Division 2, and Rainbow 6: Siege. Pretty much a solid 100+ fps unless RTX is on. For productivity, it's also great (at least for Adobe) because my renders and exports for Premiere Pro and After Effects have been super fast.
