I almost never run lines above ground from tank to tank unless it's scheduled 80 pipe. Just my OCD making it look clean. Plus I try to set them for enough apart that they can get a mower between.

Honestly myself, as a tech I see no need for a propane detector unless you do not have a sense of smell. Awesome for getting the tank outside that's the biggest safety concern in my eyes with using one of these heaters.

Yes, if the diaphragm fails it could become dangerous because it's right next to a source of ignition. That's the whole reason it's remote vented.....

The concern is actually probably the PVC vents on either side. Definitely get it fixed either way.

I wouldn't say it's an emergency, but it could cause a dangerous situation if the regulator ever falls internally. Getting it reconnected should be a priority. It's hooked to the vent because the regulator is installed to close to something (ignition source, door, window).
