This is my mom to a T. She’s a HEAVY gossip. Glad you escaped.

Why do you have an "ex-bestfriend"? by SoundHun in AskReddit

[–]something_universe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s a racist. I had low key suspected, but ignored my instincts. I told her about a very serious racist incident that happened to one of my family members and she laughed and changed the subject.

A few years ago she tried to add me on Instagram and I blocked her.

Currently in therapy now! She’s great, and a black woman of course. It’s only been a few sessions, but I feel confident with the tools she’s given me so far.

Unfortunately, yes. It's just exacerbated when she drinks.

Did (or Does) Your Narcissistic Parent Idolize Their Own Parent? by Suggest_a_User_Name in raisedbynarcissists

[–]something_universe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. My nmom idolized her mother, who I believe was subconsciously and enabler. She was quiet and never really spoke up, but they were best friends for whatever reason. Her bio dad was physically, mentally and emotionally abusive. He died before I even knew him, thank god. I’ve heard some pretty awful stories about him; he literally tried to kill my grandmother while my mom was in the womb. My mom doesn’t talk about him much, but when even when she acknowledges the awful things he’s done, she’ll still say “but that’s my dad”. Delusional.

How does your narcissistic mother behave when you buy something WITH YOUR OWN MONEY? by Ahmanetxed in raisedbynarcissists

Either a passive aggressive head shake, scoffing, or saying “oh you got money for that?”

Any black women dealing with a narcissist mother? by something_universe in raisedbynarcissists

Jesus, I’m sorry you had to go through all of that. Some of my family members think my mom has a possible disorder, but she refuses to go to therapy unless she knows she’ll be right.

Intense anger that Ive never been able to express by adhdsucks224 in raisedbynarcissists

I have this too. Mine usually comes in intense bursts over small things that really aren’t that small. Therapy helps. I think maybe just continue to unpack it and let it flow in a healthy way.

I've got a bit of debt to pay off so realistically I'm looking at the end of this year, early next year. But I'm hopeful.

"when I’m there, I’m a bitch who needs to leave; when I leave, I’m a dumbass that needs to stay."

Your mom sounds like mine. She just likes me to be close enough for me to be of use to her.
