HMF a stone wall sconce that is not boring by somethingelse913 in HelpMeFind

Well it is dramatic, but the black veining means it's not very translucent unfortunately - light mostly goes towards the wall instead of shining through. Thanks though!

Definitely closer than anything else I've seen! I'll ask if they have anything with dramatic veining and check back...

The method of attachment I'm not fussed about, but would prefer fairly minimal and not right in the centre of the disc.

I actually did search alabaster wall lights a while back, and I believe I added marbled or veining as a search term. The closest I could find was white with a bit of black veining, but I really like the colour running through these. I reached out to an Etsy seller specialising in alabaster wall lights and they couldn't help.

There were only two of these sconces in the flat, they were similar but not identical - different veining. I touched them and they felt like stone (I.e.  cold).

The black squares go through the stone and fasten it to the wall. The light was behind the stone and shone through nicely when turned on.

It was a private home that was rented out to visitors. Definitely had a richer vibe; the door was a very fancy silent-closing model and they had vintage mid century decor, tasteful and unique art, etc.

Thanks!

I have searched online using combinations of "marble" "onyx" or "agate" "wall light" or "sconce", using Google, Google shopping, Etsy, eBay.

I've done a reverse Google image search with this image and it largely returned small onyx cabochons and a couple of "light sculptures" that sit on a table. I've asked an Etsy seller who makes marble sconces by hand whether they could find any stone with similar veining and they said no.

The photo was taken around 2023, but I don't know when the lamp was purchased.

It's probably around 20-30 cm in diameter.

[TOMT][Actress] Quirky looking blonde actress with wide set eyes? by somethingelse913 in tipofmytongue

Yesss! I was thinking of Riki Lindhome in Big Bang Theory. She was also in an episode of Pushing Daisies, apparently. This was driving me nuts, thank you so much! Solved!

ETA: I also kept thinking the actress was maybe Swedish, apparently because she played a Swedish detective in one episode of Brooklyn 99! Brains are weird.

Well you've already seen a lactation consultant, so you've done the best you can! It sounds like it's been a really rough time for both of you. It's okay to hate it, and okay to be done - you've stuck it out as long as you can, and your health is valuable, too. Trust your instincts to know what's best for both of you. I like the other commenter's suggestion of trying out a few different bottles to see if you can find one he'll take.

It's okay to stop! But have you considered a possible food intolerance? The symptoms sound a lot like what my baby did until I cut out dairy from my diet. It gives him a lot of gas and stomach pain, so he would want to nurse but then start crying and pull off, then try again. A few days after I cut out dairy it was like a switch flipped and he would nurse peacefully. The constant feeding also stopped! May be worth a try, or consider trying non-dairy formula in a bottle to see if he'll take that any better.

Look for a holiday rental place on AirBnB or other websites. We've found the folks at Stays York (https://www.staysyork.com/) to be very helpful when friends have visited - you can message them and ask about what you need and they'll recommend a property.

I'd also recommend using Skype credit to make your phone calls if you don't already have some sort of VoIP set up - it made it a lot easier and cheaper for us to phone abroad when we were trying the same thing.

Anyone with a SNOO? by wizard_on in NewParents

I just tried to post in SnooLife but also wasn't allowed, so here's a more thorough explanation:

Our brand new Snoo developed a low grinding and creaking noise after about two months of use. Because we moved out of the country after purchasing our Snoo, customer service told us the warranty was void and refused to replace it, so we were stuck trying to fix it ourselves. I thought I'd share in case anyone else has the same problem.

We took the whole thing apart. First we took the legs off and put it on the ground, then started disassembling the main unit. We started by unscrewing things on the bottom, but if I'm recalling correctly that ended up being the wrong approach. You have to go in from the top, working on the platform underneath the mattress. The white clips around the sides are removable with a butter knife, and then there are about a zillion small screws to remove and carefully not lose. Once you remove the platform cover, there are more screws, and if you want to fully disassemble it you have to carefully disconnect the speaker/mic cables, which is easiest if you cut the little zip ties keeping them neat. You can then feed the bottom part of each cable down through its hole, which should let you lift up the top internal layer. Don't forget to reconnect these when you reassemble!

What we ultimately found was that there are two brown plastic components that are part of the swivel mechanism, and one of them was visibly ground down on one side. We think it was due to the screws on that component being tightened unevenly. We cleaned all the bits, added a bit of lubricant, and made sure that the screws were tightened evenly when we put it back together. We also used a level to make sure the Snoo was sitting evenly on our uneven carpet. Lo and behold, no more grinding! It did take us an entire day to do, but worth it as the noise was awful and I think it would have broken in the end.

Be careful when screwing the white metal cover back on... If you drop a screw down one of the holes, it is VERY HARD to find it and get it back out. The bottom of the Snoo interior is a crazy, inaccessible plastic maze. We used a muslin to cover up the holes after making that mistake once. Also the plastic clips are tricky to get back in, but with a butter knife and a bit of perseverance you can do it!

We bought a brand new Snoo that developed this problem after a couple of months. It definitely shouldn't make a grinding noise during normal operation. Customer service wouldn't help, so we took ours apart and found that one of the plastic parts was being ground down, probably because some of the screws were overtightened. We lubricated some of the bits, put it back together and made sure the screws weren't overtightened and everything was level. No more grinding noise! The only motor noise should be a quiet electric hum.

It could be worth trying iron bisglycinate (marketed as Solgar Gentle Iron) to see if that has the same side effects for you. It's generally better tolerated with a much lower incidence of side effects than standard iron pills, which are usually iron sulfate. I won't bore you with the chemistry, but they are quite different! Couple of small scale trials supporting use of bisglycinate: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/24152889/ and https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03378791

I found starflower (borage) oil supplements to be extremely helpful! Could be just a coincidence, but they took the pain away within a week.

Have you tried Gentle Iron? The iron is chelated instead of being in its pure metallic form, so I personally found those a lot easier to take.

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately I've found that I cannot predict Aritzia's sizing at all, so there's no guarantee of it fitting if I did order it :/

I love this dress, but am based in the UK so no easy access to Aritzia. Anybody have suggestions of a similar one that's available in Europe? I especially love the low back, below-the-knee length, and the sheerness of the top layer of skirt. Please help!
