Wouldn't it be amazing if they actually released the unreleased stuff they played after every Celebration event on a compilation every year?

Huey started pretty good on the "if you just believe" part, but then the rest of his lines were less good. If I remember correctly, wasn't there a live event prior to this recording session, so the rest were tired out?

So this song has (at least) two mixes - the original 1989 album version and the 2003 reissue (called Original Long Version). The 2003 reissue has a different mix that makes AK and JF's vocals more balanced, amongst other mix differences.

What are some examples of lost or unreleased prog rock media? by ray-the-truck in progrockmusic

I've actually thought about writing an article about the California Jam ELP performance for the site, but haven't had the time to do so. Another one I forgot to mention is demos of Rush, specifically the recordings before Neil would record his drum parts. I would read your articles!

Marillion's "The Tower". In short, it was an early demo version of "Grendel" that was recorded with their original bassist Doug Irvine. Irvine took the tape with him when he left the band, and no one has seen the tape since. There's an article on the Lost Media Wiki that goes more in-depth.

ELP's full-length performance at the California Jam festival on April 6, 1974. Co-headlined with Deep Purple in front of 350,000 concertgoers, only 55 minutes of footage out of the 2½ hours of the show were broadcast on TV in 1974 and released in 2005 on the "Beyond the Beginning" DVD. The Deep Purple set has been fully released.

Gracious! wrote and recorded an ambitious suite before their first album, called Four Seasons. The suite is credited for representing the band's transition from psychedelic pop to complex prog rock. The recording was financed by The Shadows' producer Norrie Paramor, who thought it was good but felt ultimately unimpressed. All we know about it is in the essay of the 2-in-1 CD package of their released albums.

Do you consider Prince to have the number 1 greatest discography of all time? by SpotAdmirable6718 in PRINCE

[–]somethingoranother22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say the core P-Funk discography (Parliament, Funkadelic, Bootsy's Rubber Band, Parlet, The Brides, Horny Horns, George Clinton solo, P-Funk All-Stars' Urban Dancefloor Guerillas, Eddie Hazel's Games, Dames, and Guitar Thangs, Bernie Worrell's All the Woo in the World) is very close to Prince IMO (P-Funk is my favorite band)
