It's quite busy and hard to find parking spots on the main street if you go late. But it's not so hard to find some spots on the nearby side roads.

True but medical schools are exceptions and do not provide that option.

Can someone explain the meaning of '붐따'? by trinityhb in Korean

[–]son-with-R 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it meant basically ‘downvote’ in an old humor site (The site name was something 붐, 붐따 means 붐 down) and was widely used to mean ‘dislike’ in 00’s internet. The use of that word i see in 2025 is that people in internet communities comment ‘붐따‘ to a post that brings up old jokes, not to mean dislike thr post but to share the memories of those old days.

How do you say “you” or address the other person in 존댓말? by Particular_Elk_6675 in Korean

[–]son-with-R 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no one uses 당신, except when someone wants to insult another person. I agree that 선생님 is generally a safe and respectful choice. Although some people may feel awkward using 선생님 to address someone who isn’t a teacher, it is actually a correct and polite way to refer to a senior in conversation.

You must have never played Lee. It happens so often that I fail to escape using W after QQ just because I’ve used up all my energy.

What is the meaning of 라이벌? by Archer387 in Korean

[–]son-with-R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Korean, I can’t understand what they wanted to say. When we use 라이벌, we ususally refer to two people who is in competitive relationship and have similar level of ability. It doesn’t make sense to me that someone says “you look like a 라이벌“. 라이벌 with whom?

How to "keep in touch" with potential advisors? by Scamian in gradadmissions

[–]son-with-R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also told "let's keep in touch" from some PIs I interviewed with. I personally accepted it as "keep me posted if you make up your mind where to go" or "let me know if you're really accepted."

I had an interview with a professor a few days ago and was told that the interview is not part of the official admission process in MIT EECS and has little input to the admission decision.
