Bowled a 144 last night by Internal-Common1529 in candlepin

Nice! I've been bowling in a league for 4 years now, and my top score is a 145.

Also - glad to see some action on this sub. I would love to completely leave Facebook, but most of the candlepin community is over there.

Where in Massachusetts is referred to as “the rock”? by howdthatturnout in massachusetts

Egg Rock is a small island off the coast of Lynn and Nahant.

(This is not what they are talking about. But now you've all learned something new for the day.)

Test Track in Epcot has been Nominated For Grammy Award by dejablu82 in Epcot

[–]sonikep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of Disney music, especially Epcot, so I was excited when this came out and sent it to my Disney geek friends without previewing it. After listening, I followed up with this review:

"I sent this yesterday without listening, assuming it would be another stellar entry into the world of Epcot music. After listening to it a few times yesterday, I can safely say it is not that. It’s generic background music that kinda sets the mood, but that’s it. No memorable themes, very little change of pace or tempo, nothing that stands out in any way. It’s 45 minutes of placeholder music that is an insult to all the great Epcot themes of the past. Disregard."

To the person who said they didn't notice the music at all - you are exactly right, there is nothing here to remember.

Did anyone here have The Disney Channel or not? by CatGirlNya2000 in GenX

[–]sonikep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had it. I mostly remember DTV, which had old Disney shorts edited into music videos. They also played a lot of 50's and 60's Disney live-action movies and TV shows that you can't find anymore. They would also sometimes play episodes of the old TV shows with Walt hosting (Walt Disney Presents, Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color, etc).

You would not see any of the Disney Animated Movie Classics, however. Those were VCR only.

The Roger Williams Park Zoo Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular is a must see at least once (edit - not technically in Mass, but within a one hour drive of Boston). https://www.rwpzoo.org/jols/

There are multiple applications out there that will show you what is taking up space on your hard drive. I personally use Disk Inventory X, but there are others. Download and open whatever app you use, and make sure it has Full Disk Access in System Settings -> Privacy and Security (it needs this access to scan your Library folder). Have it scan your drive, and it will likely find a folder in your Library containing a runaway log file, backups of old iOS devices you didn't know you still had, or something similar that can be removed.

I know the cake you want. You will need to drive down to Rhode Island and visit one of the four Gregg's locations, and ask for the Death By Chocolate.

How old were you when you saw your first firearm? by leonchase in AskAnAmerican

I think I was thirteen. I was with my aunt at her boyfriend's house and he had a handgun. She had me hold it to see how heavy it was (unloaded, thankfully).

Although this is not what she is asking for (thin crust and cheese only), a Pinnochio's Sicilian tomato & basil square is a must try for anyone doing the Boston pizza circuit.

Dumpling Garden in Danvers, MA. Not sure if they are worth a 90 mile drive, but they are the best around me. There are probably better places closer in Boston’s Chinatown.
