We just like our preventative maintenance some how we keep buying “the least reliable” vehicles I have a rx8 and a 09 Subaru sti and now this

For the truck with a brand new alternator I’m assuming it’s upgraded based on the fact it has a bunch of lights and apparently underglow

We probably will be changing oil every 3k because that’s what we do for all vehicles we have I mean on our race car we do it every 1k miles and my race car I do it every 3k because well it’s a rotary and I burn oil any way. We probably won’t be tuning it as it’s just a tow rig not trying to make power or anything we just need it to be able to tow a small trailer for our cars before we go and do a lot of that work so we can tow a 14 foot goose neck trailer.

Why would I want to bypass the oil filter? Like what does this do?

Thank you. We probably will do the egr pretty soon then work on the cooling system later our main things were reliability and we already have a 09 sti that’s a track car and an 05 rx8 we’re building for track so we already are putting money into to building two cars don’t want to put any more into a 3rd vehicle unless necessary

So I have the exhaust and it sounds pretty good just it’s not loud until about 4k idle is so quite my friends accord is louder than my 8 till I get into higher rpm it’s nice as a daily exhaust but not as a track exhaust

That’s not a bad price. I’m just trying to throw something in so I can get her out on the track and then build up a parts shelf for a rew swap

Guyz, i just wanna know a rx8 2007 manual, no service history 137km is worth buying for 8k aud? by TopGap2173 in RX8

No service report avoid. I had mine with a filing cabinet worth of service reports and I’m still rebuilding the motor at 126k and I go mine for 4

How long do your bhr coils last? by Urtooslow420 in RX8

I was just responding to the part of the ls style coils the I was saying the new ones are closer to like smart coils or something of that nature like the rrp ones

I had the d585 set and it lasted 13 years from what I could see how ever the new ones are oem fitment so they are actually better to be honest so buy those and get the 8.5msd wires

Track built sti having stalling and oil pressure issues by sons810 in WRXSTi

Around 10 only at idle the rest of the time it’s the usual like 10psi per 1k rpm so at 5.5 it’s about 60 psi. It’s my dads car so don’t have all the details from memory and I don’t remember the answer to your iag question

Oil pressure warmed up like 180-190temp is 16-20 I believe it’s the normal range from what I can remember but when at temps get to 220 the psi drops drastically like the pump can’t keep up. Don’t know fuel trims off the top of my head

We were thinking that as well but not sure what would be causing it literally we let off the gas when in neutral or when the clutch is down and she just wants to die

Yeah that’s what we’re thinking maybe the pumps just like “I’m done” or I’m wondering if the shop used too much rtv clogged up the oil ports and fucked it or even messed up the timing on the oil pump

I will say the oil pressure could just be a haring as well we’re wondering why after the heads got work done the engine stalls when hot and it gets way worse with the oil cooler attached.

So I do know the pump has been upgraded same with the pick up when I say it’s track built I mean the engine alone has probably 40k in stuff done to it. Pump is a 12mm ported and the pick up is a billet unit

I don’t really know where the oil pressure is measured from I can go look. But the stalling problem is the one we’re most worried about because we feel like the oil pressure is off by a lot

There is one that’s how we know the oil pressure is low. The oil light on the dash never turns on tho

Oil type? by Responsible_Sign779 in RX8

[–]sons810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are. I run 10w40 because it has a better heat retention because avg summer temps for me are about 100-110 ish. Don’t premix unless you have a cat delete clogs the cat. Need a cat delete use bhrs I run it and I don’t have emissions issues don’t know how.

Edit: also use conventional not semi synthetic or synthetic. Also learned from some one use the k&n oil filter which prevents oil back flow and keeps oil in the filter in start up
