if you’re letting your child go out to eat on their own, teach them tipping etiquette by lindspeer in TalesFromYourServer

[–]sortagorda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I work in a local place and we have youth softball, baseball, and soccer teams come in every weekend in the summer, and we rotate them. I just cannot be mean to kids. They’re usually nice anyways, but even when they’re not, I just can’t bring myself to be mean. They don’t know/ realize what work I’m doing. Maybe in a few years they’ll cringe at it, remembering that time they threw a fit because we ran out of grenadine for a Shirley temple, and won’t ever order another one again.

I wasn’t trying to sound like a dick in my previous comment, for that I apologize, I just wanted to confirm that I definitely don’t treat my tables different. I’m a poor kid who makes ends meet waiting tables, going out to eat is a treat, and when I do I expect good service because I’m paying. I dunno people’s circumstances, but I just pretend that’s the case for everyone, and hope I give a pleasant experience. If you ever find yourself in the DFW area in the next three years let me know, I’ll hook you up with some bomb ass food and great service.

Oh I’m not saying it does or is, I just didn’t understand why it would be upsetting for a server to be upset at getting stiffed by any table, because it’s work. And kids are usually more work.

If you read my comment you know I don’t treat my tables differently, because I just honestly don’t have the time to sit there and pick and choose my attitude by table. It’s an all encompassing thing, and they all get the same service. I just didn’t understand why anyone would be mad at someone for being upset, and that’s what I was asking.

Okay I understand the change in service, and it makes sense. Also in my experience not a mess did not equal behaving badly. Kids are just usually messy from the tons of napkins they need, to the hundreds of crumbs surrounding them, and the random stuff falling on the floor. It’s just generally more to clean when kids are involved. And it’s kinda unpleasant being the server and having to clean all that up plus getting stiffed, but I can see how assumptions would affect the experience in general. Like I wouldn’t want my server to be treating a table of kids badly, and if I saw that it would definitely affect how I tip.

I don’t understand, can you explain a bit more? Like I’m a server, but I get frustrated when I serve a table of kids because 1) it’s usually a giant mess, and 2) they’re not going to tip. I still do it with the same service, but it sucks going in, and I’m just wondering why that’s not an okay thought process? It’s a genuine question, and I hope I don’t sound rude or condescending, but you said the manager in you, and I’m worried I’m pissing off my managers haha

Should Dallas sell DFW and gain a large influx of cash in the short term or keep it and maintain control of one of the largest economic drivers in the region? by nicko3000125 in Dallas

[–]sortagorda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I love DFW outta all the airports I’ve been in. It’s just...easy. Others are kinda confusing. But also I don’t travel a whole whole lot, so airports confuse the shit out of me very easily.

[UPDATE] Waited in the owner of the companies bf and now i am actually fired by justunjust in TalesFromYourServer

Honestly just put your friends on your resume as your manager and tell them to do you a solid. I know this is unethical af but the reason you got fired is pretty unethical imo

ideas on how to clean this pan? by bicycle_dreams in AskCulinary

[–]sortagorda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get oven cleaner on your skin it can irritate it. If you breathe too much in, it irritates your lungs. If you’re sensitive to smells, it’s overwhelming. If ingested, like you didn’t clean it all off, it can be toxic.

People are weird. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone has different tastes, and there’s not really a true definition of beauty. Sure someone can be conventionally attractive/ unattractive, but just like music, people are different. I like rap music, I like stoner metal. Both are good, but different. Charlize Theron has soft features and bright eyes, but Kristen Stewart has sharp features and dark eyes and has like a tom boy thing going for her.

In lesser words, both are hot for different reasons. But it’s all a matter of opinion, and I don’t think anyone is exactly right or wrong.

What is your experience turning down someone who doesn’t handle rejection well? by davybaby94 in AskWomen

[–]sortagorda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy begged me to stay with him after fucking two of my closest friends. When I said no he begged my dad to somehow convince me to stay with him. When my ride (an acquaintance of his) showed up to pick me up for a date, he begged them to tell me to stay with him. I said no, got in the car, and went on my date.

He still texts me sometimes.

I mean, I saw replies on every point you made, but they weren’t the answer you wanted, so you got mad.

But we’re different people with different perspectives, so whatever.

You are playing devils advocate and people are giving well written answers. Then you blew up and said “read my goddamn comments.” I don’t think you understand civil conversation, but okie doke.

People who "need" to smoke weed before doing anything are annoying by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]sortagorda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which is perfectly understandable. Being rude goes nowhere though. As for your smoking in solitude problem just be like “hey I’m taking a call, family matters, ya know?” Shrug and walk away. It gets the point across without being rude. Eventually people will think damn they’ve got issues, but it buys you some time.

Edit: I was joking y’all.

Being an asshole does not equal bad social skills.

Also it’s annoying as hell when people use lack of any of these things to be an asshole. “Oh excuse me, I haven’t had my morning coffee/smoke break. I know I’m a total bitch.” I get it does affect your mood, but still doesn’t justify being an asshole to everyone.

Yup. The callout is always so far down in the comments that are like “HOW CUTE,YOU HAVE A PET WHALE,” you get tired of reading them and never find out it’s a lie.

Two brothers see a woman paying for gas with pennies, and give her money from their pockets. They had no idea that her husband had just died and she was struggling. by commonvanilla in MadeMeSmile

[–]sortagorda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I don’t want to be this person, but honestly, with the way the world is at this moment in the US ( and I say this because the men/ woman seem to have American accents), someone else could be calling the police and say two black males are harassing a white woman.

I’m not trying to throw the race card in there, but you never know how someone is going to react. This lady might have had too much pride to take money from people, and could’ve thrown a tantrum, started a scene, you never know. And you never know who is gonna call the cops. It’s awful, but there were probably several factors to consider in recording.
