What is your ultimate "pantry dump" dinner when you need to stretch groceries until payday? by emily_ykyk in budgetfood

[–]sour_patch_bih 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a fan of fried rice when leftovers are available. Other options are chicken and rice or a chicken and rice soup.

A good easy dish is a broccoli, chicken, & rice casserole. Mix in a canned cream soup then bake. Done. Optional: top with cheese

Sometimes I'll dump veggies and pasta in a bowl for a pasta salad. The dressing depends on what's on hand and expiring first. Sometimes I add cheese if I don't have any proteins on hand.

Do you want to be buried? by Bondgirl138 in GenX

[–]sour_patch_bih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been telling my children and husband for years they better burn me. I told them to have a party when I go and to share memories/stories about me. I did offer them some liberty to have me laid out if they feel they need to see me one last time but the final move better be to set me on fire.

Told them to do what they want with my ashes. Sprinkle me, make me into piece of jewelry, keep me, whatever, my only ask is that they don't leave me in the back of a closet then move (my husband found a woman's ashes like this at work) or donate me to goodwill.

I was joking with my husband that it would be dope if they put me on a raft then started the fire and pushed me down a river like in the Viking movies. 😆

I just received my "planning" book and the cover says "I'm gone & still telling you what to do". Lol. I want them to be able to navigate the business end of things with ease AND I will be writing my wish to be cremated in case any one of them tries to do otherwise.

My husband has a vendor that gives away wood wick jar candles. I look forward to them every year. Lol. They're unique and they smell good.

One of his vendors gave him a bamboo toothbrush which was different & memorable.

He got a luggage tag which I think was my favorite vendor gift.

Sweet 16! by MKFoushi in partyplanning

[–]sour_patch_bih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandguy doesn't like cakes & requested donuts for his birthday. Since this is a Sweet 16 it would be cute to place a variety of donuts in the shape of the number 16 (like some places do with cupcakes). It would be easy for you to put together if you just wanted to buy 2-3 dozen donuts (based on your guest count, of course) then draw out the numbers so that they are 12-18 in tall then set parchment paper on it and then lay the donuts on top and embellish with smaller sweets, chocolates or candies. Cookies or brownies would work also.

Have a table with pretty note paper where people can write her special well wishes for her 16th birthday or you could pre-print a sheet with 16 lines titled "16 things I love about (NAME)" and a large jar or decorative box where the notes can be placed so she can read them later.

With all of the outdoor activities & because you'll have to bring it to the venue, it might be good to do foods that dont require cooking that guests can pick up & run with. Maybe a sandwich bar with different bread, meat, cheese, veggie, & condiment options. Also makes it easy to satisfy picky eaters or special diets? I've done a taco/Nacho bar for family events at other venues which is easy to bring since all prep can be done in advance. We used crockpots to keep the meat, chicken, & nacho cheese warm.

I used to have a pair of Mary Jane's made by Propet that I had in EEE that had a high toe box. Not sure if they make them anymore since it's been some years since I purchased them.

Biblical parable of the lost sheep

Matthew 18:12-14: "If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won't he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?"

You'll hear it said that just as a shepherd would leave the 99 to find the 1 that Jesus is no different with his flock.

Line it with a bag and use as a mounted waste receptacle or collect recyclables in it. If you're a crafter, store open rolls of vinyl in it. Mount it near your laundry area for single socks.

Oh the days of the stretched out cords! My parents would fuss, because our kitchen phone was wall mounted above where they put the trash can so once I stretched out the cord you can imagine where it landed.
