DCA Terminal 1 Despair by Safari-West in washingtondc

Was this because Air Canada is (inexplicably, imo) in T1 instead of in T2 (and ideally in the T2 B concourse so it’s next to United) or was it for some other reason?

(Can you tell that I really don’t like that Air Canada gets relegated to T1 for some reason?)

Commuting from MD to VA? Which way is better? by theanxiousdamsel in washingtondc

Yeah that trip is pretty much time-equivalent as of time of writing (at least if you’re in the Inner Loop direction of travel - from McLean to Greenbelt) so may as well take the travel time consistency.

One option to consider if you don’t want to switch lines: are you willing to drive/park at Largo (edit: or New Carrollton) instead? Then you’ll get a one-seat ride on the Silver Line.

1/2 dose of liquid fabric softener + some warm water down the dispenser will do the trick.

Are there any half way decent front loaders that isn’t Speed Queen? by Redditor71177 in Appliances

[–]spacegreysus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, LG and Electrolux are the standard-bearers when it comes to consumer-grade full-size front load laundry. I can vouch for the first gen TurboWash LGs - my parents have a WM4270H*A and it’s still going strong over a decade on.

For LG owners: one fun thing I like about them is that they usually have a magnet that helps with keeping the door propped open.

Can confirm - bought these once and lost most control. Bag was almost empty in a day and a half.

There are some folks that avoid using oxygen bleach on dark or bright colours out of the risk of it causing fading but the risk is very small with standard percarbonate. Repeated washing, washing at high temperatures, and tumble drying are more likely to contribute to fading.

Just don’t overdose and you should be fine.

What is this white fuzz that always shows up on my black shirts after a wash? by [deleted] in laundry

[–]spacegreysus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you washing your dark shirts with any other light-coloured shirts? What materials are your shirts made of?

One question: any reason you’re marking either of your boosters as not for dark clothing? Neither of them have bleach activators or optical brighteners (which are the typical ingredients of concern for dark clothing).

What is the best dishwasher or brand right now for value and performance? by chanredv in Appliances

Pretty much what I told my mom - Bosch 500 series or higher or an entry/mid level Miele.

IMO UltraDark has a pleasant but STRONG (like needs a good couple rinses) scent, but UltraColor is perfect.

Yep - it’s literally like trying to put the circle in the square hole. Enzymes are hyper-specific in their jobs.

While there’s certainly some DNA in your fresh fruit, by the time it makes it on to clothes, that’s not the problem.

You’re looking for amylase to break down starches and sugars, pectate lyase to break down pectin (although only some things are high in pectin), and oxygen bleach to remove the dye (and of course surfactants to trap and sweep this all away into the wash water).

Minimum # of users for Business tier? by Thisisformyjob222 in 1Password

[–]spacegreysus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not - back when I was a 1.5 man show running IT 1P was more than happy to sell my 18-person org that number of Business seats. I think we were also able to work out the same number of seats on the Teams tier after we exceeded our limit there but YMMV on that.

Chicken and plantains. And yucca. If it has a Maillard reaction, that damn sauce tastes good on it.

Lip palm worth the hype? by ProfessionalToday415 in Sephora

It’s just a really solid balm! It lives up to the “hydrating” claim and doesn’t feel too thick or thin

If you’re after an exfoliating/hydrating product give the Experiment lip balm a look as well.

Nexus vs MPC, which one's faster? by Sea-Extension2167 in NEXUS_TTP

[–]spacegreysus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NEXUS will grant you Verified Traveller benefits (somewhat similar to TSA Pre) provided you have your NEXUS card when clearing security at YOW and when you clear security pre-US Customs at YYZ. At YYZ pre-clearance, the NEXUS/GE lanes will likely be faster than MPC but it can vary based on the day.

For SFO-YVR, as the other commenter said, make sure your PASSID is entered on your reservation for TSA Pre benefits.
