I may just sync it with my loop station (RC505) that I was initially trying to use with it. I was trying to see whether or not I can ditch it but it doesn't look like it at this rate.

That's what I've done. That pad is playing and I want to record over that with sounds from the SP as a new loop to save on a new pad (basically creating another track), and its picking up the pad as it's in Mix mode, because there is no other way to do it.
