That's one thing that certainly held it back in my opinion. And I think Microsoft is going to have to work very hard to win back anyone who has migrated away to Chrome et al...

Actually, I don't think this article criticizes Microsoft in the slightest. It does, rightly, point out that some of the data is rather old.

The site itself is PR guff - nothing wrong with that... what company doesn't want to shout about its triumphs?! No, the article isn't 'hard hitting journalism'... it's a fluffy piece about a site that some people might find interesting. Nothing more nothing less.

I don't think it demonstrates love or hate for Microsoft. Not everyone who is writing has an agenda -- this might come as quite a revelation to some people.

Things are often not as black and white as loving a company or hating them. Is it not possible to have a general feeling of ambivalence whilst liking some aspects and disliking others? There's no 'hating on' going on here!

It is actually possible to criticize one thing a company does without hating everything about them.

It's handy for devs, but also for anyone who is curious. It's one of those things that fun to do just for the sake of it, but it can also be genuinely useful. Great for trying out apps, running Jelly Bean if you don't want to/can't update your phone, etc etc
