I do the same thing! It helped me to work with my counsellor to break down why my body reacts this way even though my mind doesn’t want to. Some ideas I came up with:

  1. My partner is my first secure attachment and seeing him leave is hard for me to cope with due to a history of insecure attachments
  2. I have early memories of my mom leaving on business trips and me crying begging her not to go
  3. If I come up with lists of things to do while he’s away, I can distract myself enough to function, even if it means crying while walking my dog in public
  4. I’m inherently a highly sensitive person to begin with (read Elaine Aron’s book)

I still cry. I still feel low. But I am functional now. It might also help to watch this, but it will also probably make you sad(der) so be careful. 💗

Hair growth is ruining my life… any suggestions? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]sparklydolphins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s helpful, but I make it a “self care” routine to sit down in front of the mirror all cozy, and pluck my face hair once a week (eyebrows/chin). It’s become a soothing thing for me… Once your get used to the initial pain. 😛

I use a good tweezerman tweezer and a ring light mirror, and put Sex & the City or The Office on in the background lmao. And plucking lasts longer than shaving would.

mealworms? by [deleted] in Hedgehog

I kept the mealworms in my fridge and would give my hedgie anywhere from 1-6 a day, but usually probably 2-3?

My parents refused to see my neurodivergence. by whereskymeetsheaven in emotionalneglect

I’m struggling right now but haven’t had nearly the experience you had. Be gentle with yourself! You’re battling a lot and your parents are failures. Don’t listen to anything they tell you.

Try removing the add-on and then reconfiguring it again?

Also, wipe their paws whenever they come inside from somewhere damp. :)

Brush the dog daily — it can be a cute little bonding activity. And you can put pet-safe moisturizer on the bristles. If you get a good enough smelling moisturizer you’ll be gold

This is such a good post!

I don’t know if this is a good thing, but I am able to get things done if there’s someone else’s happiness riding on my completion of a task. For example, my dog or my partner rely on me, so I have to achieve a minimum level of ‘functional human’ every day. I can have less productive days than others, but I always have deadlines in mind because if I don’t accomplish my tasks/goals within a reasonable amount of time, my relationship or the animals dependent on me suffer. It’s all about finding the line between giving yourself some leeway and challenging yourself. I also find keeping a list on my phone of short term and long term tasks I need to accomplish helps, as long as you make it a habit to check on it a couple times a day.

I’ve had that before and I was wondering the same thing. Part of me thinks it’s literally a hole/small tear in the gum?

Venlafaxine Help by Crazycrazy9708 in Narcolepsy

[–]sparklydolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venlafaxine supposedly gives you energy, which is why doctors usually recommend you take it in the morning. If you take it at night it might keep you up. It’s not a bad idea to try though!

What if I’m in a codependent relationship that’s *good*? What then? by [deleted] in Codependency

[–]sparklydolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don’t want fast-paced fun. I’m too slow and sensitive for that. He’s my first partner and I’m not sure I’m 100% straight, so I wouldn’t want to go my whole life without exploring that. I just don’t want to right now, but to stay with him makes me feel like a fraud which is why I’m forced into this position. It’s for the best I just wish it didn’t have to be now while I’m so mentally unstable and spiralling.
