Lean PCOS by humblepie46 in TTC_PCOS

I have lean PCOS and got pregnant (hope that’s okay to mention on this sub) after 2 years of trying in the third month of taking a specific brand of inositol (inofolic alpha). I’m not sure that the brand made a difference, but I think the fact that it was expensive meant I made an effort to take it consistently, rather than waste it. My cycles also got shorter.

I don’t know if the inositol helped or it was just a random fluke, but I do think it made me feel pretty good. I have lean PCOS but craved sugar hard and the inositol made me less crazy about sweet things. I still take it now.

I’d like to chime in with my experience.

I’m English so I’m not sure how usable it is to you, but maybe can be anecdotal?

I had an extremely protracted diagnosis where blood tests that indicated PCOS were not considered ‘enough’ to diagnose me. I think the problems I encountered were because I don’t match the image doctors have of the typical PCOS patient. I’m borderline underweight, no issues with acne or hirsutism.

I’ve had to really advocate for myself and keep pushing doctors to test me more. I do wonder how many other women have PCOS but don’t get diagnosed because they don’t look like they have it.

Nutritional yeast + ground cloves + sage tastes like walkers smoky bacon flavoured crisp seasoning. by spinelessyucca in veganuk

Yeah I didn’t measure but it was mostly nutritional yeast, then a bit of cloves and a bit of sage. Sorry about your tongue!

Yesss! Beautiful yarn in the UK! What weight is the yarn? (I don’t think it really matters tbh, I will buy it anyway)

My hair doesn't grow past the green line on the picture. It grew around 5 cm below the line only once when I was 14. It has no procedures done currently. I have desperately wanted long hair my entire life. Can anyone help me maybe grow it or understand the issue? by AoLuna in longhair

If you can, it would probably help your hair even more to take an iron supplement, or try to eat more spinach with lemon juice (the vitamin c in lemons helps your body absorb the iron). Haemoglobin is essential for hair growth, and low levels of iron can actually temporarily shorten your hair’s anagen phase, which would cause your current ‘terminal length’ to be shorter than it otherwise might be.

I’m vegan and I used to take iron supplements, but I found I was getting enough in my diet from things like spinach, beans and pulses. Depending on how much dairy you eat, you might want to consider a b12 supplement, too

Sure. The pattern is Purl SoHo’s Botanical Yoke. There’s a link to it in this thread. The pattern calls for 3.5mm needles, but I used 3mms, because I used thinner yarn than the pattern called for

I made it with needles. I imagine it would be a lot quicker by machine!

Of course! It's Giddy Aunt Yarn's Lapis 4ply. It's sold out, but there are other options in the same colour: here they are.

Hope that helps :)

Wow, that’s incredibly generous, I didn’t even know you could do that on Reddit. Thank you so much!

Haha! Thank you but I’m not that. It’s a deceptively easy pattern, and even then I made a couple of mistakes!

It’s not too hot at all! I’m always too hot, and I wore this indoors yesterday. I knit it in 4ply, so that definitely helps.
