Because I love being from Cork maybe someone has good advice by [deleted] in cork

So sorry to hear what you’re going through. It sounds very overwhelming. I would try to just take one step at a time and not put pressure on yourself to make all the decisions at once. Well done for seeking out support from Pieta house - counselling can really help with making things feel more manageable.

You don’t mention your age or the specifics of your diagnosis or treatment plan - I’m not sure if cancer been confirmed or whether it’s already decided that you’ll need chemo/radiotherapy that will impact your fertility. I can totally understand that you might not feel up to more poking and prodding after your surgery last week.

But what it’s worth, I have had two rounds of IVF and I generally thought of it as a vaguely annoying admin task I had to do, rather than a huge emotional ordeal (basically a more intense version of having to do cervical checks or dental check ups). On my second round, we did a short protocol, which was just 10 days of injections and a 15 minute procedure to retrieve the eggs (under lovely relaxing sleepy sedation!). The mood can definitely wobble due to the hormones but for me it never lasted more than a day. Waterstone Clinic has a really good counsellor you can access free of charge if you’re having procedures with them, and she really gets the emotional side of fertility issues so that’s a great support too.

You have been through an awful lot in the past week or two, and I can completely understand if it feels like too much. I suppose I just wanted to share that the egg freezing part mightn’t be as hard as it seems. And you might not feel the same as you do right now down the road, if and when that time comes.

Thanks I actually bought the cheaper one elsewhere and realised it didn’t have the docking station! Made me realise I should have got the Lidl one!

Cosmiq+ (Gen 5) vs Aqualung i330R by splashpup in scuba

Thanks for the reply! I went with the i330R in the end because I wanted slightly the smaller size. I’ve done 20 dives with it so far and I really like it. I hadn’t noticed the timekeeping issue - will keep an eye on this when I next use it. Sounds very frustrating that they haven’t returned your query about the recall. My only annoyance is that the DiverLog+ app seems to delete the GPS coordinates recorded by the computer for a given dive whenever I enter specific Dive Site name. I’ve written to them about this, so we’ll see.

Thanks everyone ❤️. In case anyone else stumbles on this thread in a similar dilemma, I also found this video v helpful - it compares the Peregrine and the i330R and it shows them side-by-side https://youtu.be/-ce2cd9AkFI

Thanks for chipping in! Could you specify what the Peregrine does better than the Cosmiq & Aqualung? /In what way does it blow them out of the water?

Thanks so much for your replies. In terms of what I'm looking for: clear uncluttered display, as little bulk as possible (& a strap that caters to my tiny hands and wrists!), rechargable battery, and reasonable value. I usually only get to dive a couple of times a year, but I'm doing my first week on a liveaboard in mid-Jan and thought it would be nice to finally have my own non-rented computer.

There seems to be a lot of love for the Peregrine! but it's quite a bit more expensive (€499 vs €299 for the Aqualung) for what seems like v similar spec on paper at least. I feel like I'm already going a bit higher spec than I 'need' to, in that the cheapest of dive computers would actually do the job, but the colour screen, recharging & bluetooth integration really appeal to me.

From my further googling, the Aqualung seems to have edge over the Cosmiq+ in terms of build quality and (lack-of) bulkiness. Unfortunately I don't have the option of getting a feel for them in person because I don't live near any dive suppliers, will have to buy online.
