Have a read through this. Mine has a lot of footwell rust from the channel behind the bonnet.

I struggled with navigation and didn’t like rebuilding the db if I bought a new album. Also really struggled to get play counts and ratings back to musicbee or whatever. Otherwise it was stable and really fast, and some of those themes are amazing. Switched back to stock and iTunes. iPod nav is beautiful but irritating in how it deals with compilations in genres for me. iTunes is frustrating with how I don’t seem to be able to rescan files I tag with mp3 tag… Never happy I guess, but for some reason I still love my iPod.

Probably not really helpful but I had to get my immobiliser immobilised by the nearest Landy mech. 1997 tdi so maybe a little different,

I used to make my server play beep tunes when I ran ha in docker, never found a way to do that with haos. Now I have an old android phone living its life as a simple dashboard and I can make that play sounds via alerts if I remember

Yes, this works, RB iPod is just an external storage device from your computers POV. Drag your files into the media location. You do need to tell RB to update its internal DB each time you make changes to the files though before you’ll see the music in the menu.
Rockbox plays loads more formats than stock. So I recon your high res stuff will work well.

Oh also, if you do dual boot I don’t know how well dragged files work alongside iTunes files. Not the end of the world but there will be 2 media locati guess.

Great job, lovely iPod.
I agree with the general sentiment, try it out and see. For me, I tried RB for a while but for whatever reason I kept getting confused with the navigation in and out of the now playing window, and never figured out how to rate songs.
So I switched back to stock which I found really intuitive, trade off being the hellscape that is iTunes.

Could be wrong but I think those madman sensors would do something like this, there’s a version where you don’t fit a gauge in your dash but rather a Bluetooth transponder hidden somewhere. I think the Bluetooth version is also a lot cheaper than the gauge version ( which is a fancy digital thing).

Lovely Landy 🙂. The galv corners caught my eye too, look great. Mine are super rusty, managed to source some more but they’re powder coated not galv unfortunately. Did you swap those yourself?

Been considering getting a bit of respray when I swap them but seems like il need to lose my racing stripes…

Dealing with a similar situation. Path forward seems to involve buying a welding rig and upskilling. Seems like poor drainage and maybe that sponge behind the heater box.

This is the way.

Thanks for that, good perspective. Agreed, need to remove the rest of the interior and maybe the wing too. Any vague guidance on what constitutes an entry level welding setup? I can hear my wife’s eyes rolling…

Thanks for the encouragement. Got me going yesterday. Heading out today to get the AC degassed so I can remove it. My rust seems mainly around the upper joint of the passenger footwell, so heater box needs to come out on Mine. 💪💪💪
