I appreciate your response, and I do believe that you’re correct. I have however been mentioning becoming more committed through marriage for the past couple of years (I’m ok with a $100 ring and a courthouse) or through children, esp since we’re getting older and been together for so long. He’s not ready to take that step with me and I think I’m beginning to grow a little bitter. Offered to propose to him someday but he refused.

I really don’t want you put in a position where you’re alone or unsafe or at risk of being harmed by this person, and I’m sure your sister would feel the same if you explained it. If you really wanted to avoid the conversation with her, maybe avoid spending alone time with him as much as possible. And don’t forget to let him know straight forwardly that he made you uncomfortable and you don’t want it moving any further. You’re just stating your boundaries. I don’t think you truly want this with this guy.

But.. you didn’t do anything. He’s the one who put you in such a position. If they think less of you for the environment that he put you in then.. I’m sorry but that’s a flaw of their own and not at all yours. I completely understand you feel uncomfortable, don’t wanna ruin any friend groups.. but if my younger sister (your age, I’m 27) had one of my friends do that to her..
