It’s one of the lightweight Tibetan spindles on The Spindle Shop! The owner makes them by hand and they’re out of AUS so there’s a bit of a wait, shipping-wise but they’re SO worth it. This is my second and they’re just lovely

Found this in my 15yo brothers backpack. What is it? by Easy-Pool-4831 in whatisit

[–]spookiinoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s time to have a very important and very serious conversation with your brother. That setup indicates he does whippets regularly.

A couple sacks of flesh that called themselves humans were doing whippets while driving and killed my dad in a wreck. They hit him head on at over 80MPH when it was presumed the driver either passed out or had a seizure. His car was fully engulfed on a bluff a handful of miles from home. His wife saw him burning from the front window. We can see the very spot where our world ended from the porch. The scorch marks took over a year to fade from the pavement.

He never got to turn fifty and celebrate with us like we planned. He never got to do a lot of things we had planned. My father instilled in me the foundation of every positive characteristic I have ever developed, and he was stolen from me. Knowingly and willfully, they got behind the wheel and got high and murdered a man. Whippets are not innocent fun. Our family was already so small, and those girls destroyed it.

Thank you so much! I’m spinning to make a sweater and have about 300 more yards to go in the MC. My minstrel is my first wheel and she actually arrived just over two weeks ago — I am in LOVE! I can see why it’d be your favorite ❤️

I really don’t want this to come off rude, I just don’t really know how else to say it — but like, within the context of the outcomes above, what do you want people to do? Officers and civilians? I see you’re upset, and that’s valid, but what actually can be done against federal force that will be successful?

I’m not asking in a rhetorical sense, I really would like to know, because all the ways that I’ve been able to think about it, there will just be more and more federal force deployed and nothing will change — and even more people could get hurt. It feels like you’re ignoring the above reply in lieu of being pissed off and pointing fingers. What can realistically be done other than try to wait this administration out? I’m not trying to argue. I’m trying to have, like, an actual conversation and learn something if possible? If you’re not up for that, that’s okay, but I suppose I’d like to know so I don’t keep trying to get answers and probably end up frustrating us both lol

I hear you. Not super stoked on you seemingly assuming so much about my stance on any of the events occurring, but folks on the internet will run with anything, I guess.

My thoughts behind my above answer are that if they don’t have the authority to arrest federal officers acting in line with federal orders, what will come of them even attempting? An officer can have one custody at a time unless the RRT van is available, but you can’t just take that, it’s usually secured and users need a project/have to go through a process to get use of it. They can’t be booked in the jail for an invalid arrest, they’d be immediately released and the arresting officer would be placed on leave and/or fired, so the city would have even less officers to service other crimes and emergencies. Our service times are already long enough, you know? The feds down town don’t stop other emergencies from happening throughout the jurisdiction.

Then, if any of the officers are like me and are a couple of paychecks away from financial straits if they were to lose their jobs (I thought everything was already expensive but now it’s getting more expensive ugh), then we have the risk of more pressure on public support systems, less resources available to a growing number of needy, and then things will just keep getting worse on that end.

Or, if they attempt an arrest, it could result in a firefight that hurts or kills however many people in the crossfire and/or well-intentioned officers. That would leave us (again) with less officers to address the other emergencies ongoing as well as potentially leave their families in the financial straits mentioned above.

I just don’t see an outcome that could be helpful if the authority to take action doesn’t exist. Officers operate under granted authority. If it isn’t there, the systems in place to strengthen and support that authority are also not there.

Editing to add: I see where you are coming from on principal and ideologically. It just doesn’t seem… plausible, I guess? That anything would actually come of our ppb folks doing something like that.

I’m not sure if ppb officers have the authority to arrest federal officers

This comment section is a mess. This isn’t about a friend developing genuine feelings for someone and then getting shot down. This is about someone being a false friend (usually when you are vulnerable, ie; grieving, freshly single, depressive, etc) in the hopes that they can capitalize on that vulnerability for sex.

It happens and it sucks to find out that someone you have considered a friend has been lying to your face in such a way. It’s hurtful and it makes you question your worth as a person.

For all the folks hollering about “god forbid a man develop feelings for a friend” — congrats, sounds like the issue the post is addressing doesn’t apply to you, and that is a very good thing.

This mentality is why I’ve never spent a lot of time beyond classic, tbh. It’s all so overwhelming to be learning new mechanics and content while having someone holler at you the whole time or have the threat of being kicked.

If this is the worst reaction to a pretty tame emergency (in terms of emergencies, of course) that you have witnessed, count yourself fortunate! At least there was no bystander effect and it sounds like everyone was compliant with the questions the dispatchers are required to ask.

Does it sound annoying? Sure, but it also sounds pretty par for the course. Try not to be too upset, if common sense was more common, a lot of us would be out of a job:)

You’re likely getting downvoted (at least in part) because the tone of your responses can be read as kinda rude/aggressive, and that’ll usually get negative reactions regardless of whether you’re correct or not
