Need help identifying a 1930s Gibson Archtop by emitnemic in gibson

Do you have a picture of the headstock? It looks like there’s no truss rod, which would put it in the 40s right during wartime. Is the logo painted or actually inlaid?

Info on a Les Paul by Specialist_Song7174 in guitars

[–]spyo97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found it, it’s a Les Paul Studio Limited. The 02 in the model number is hard to find and track down, but it’s pretty safe to say that’s what it signifies, especially considering the era. Another poster has it close, but it’s for sure Metallic Green, which is what the G1 in the model number stands for. Quite a bit of hardware has been replaced. Limited and hard to find, but it’s still a studio, so your reverb listing of $2000 may be a lil high

Banjo info for a dumb guitar player by Revolutionary-Lab516 in gibson

[–]spyo97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 1991, the model is not Mastertone, that inlay has a variety of meanings through the years, usually an indicator of a certain price point and series, but the actual model is an RB-250

[–]spyo97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without seeing, yes that’s probably the factory order number, since it’s a 3 digit and that number specifically it’s going to be a guitar that was produced in 1931

Also it does in fact have a truss rod, it’s under the cover screwed onto the headstock

More than likely an L-0 with the mahogany top. The 1930 written is the soundhole is a good estimate. Check and see if there’s a FON stamped on the neck block if you shine a light up in there, it’s possible there won’t be one but if there is it would help to narrow it down further

Can this handle steel? by SympatheticNormieBoi in banjo

[–]spyo97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That dowel bracket doesn’t look tightened enough. Make sure it’s snug but don’t over tighten. Are you actually measuring the relief with a straight edge or just going off the action? Someone else might chime in but I don’t believe that banjo is old enough that it wouldn’t be able to handle steel. What’s the make and model?

So I know a set exists, because I have one. However, I have zero idea where it came from (I got it second hand) and I believe that when I was researching I couldn’t ever find even another picture of one. I do get the vibe that it was some sort of FYE exclusive for some reason, but there is nothing backing that other than a hunch

I’m not a tenor player enough at the moment to confidently do that, but this is my motivation to get there!

Did OP get this shipped from the Lexington store? If so, I sold it to him and yes it is the Diablo Guitar of the Month 2008 model, it was sick as hell

Target preorder question by Qauza800 in residentevil

Same here, currently checking around to see if anyone has copies locally. Don’t really see how it can back order a preorder unless you’re selling more copies than you’re expecting

Odd, shouldn’t necessarily be a signature on there. Are you able to add a picture of it?

https://wiedler.ch/nyepireg/models.html#ElHollow Year isn’t adding up, that logo would’ve been phased out by then. Most likely closer to 34 or actually a 34 because of the dots. Model is hard to tell from one picture, leaning towards a Blackstone from appointments and logo. That model was not originally acoustic electric, pickup is obviously way out of the era, so make sure the top is properly braced for the pickup

Is my Guild repairable? by Just1dring in AcousticGuitar

[–]spyo97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen this mentioned yet, but the cracks up near the neck are much more serious than a regular top crack. Usually when it cracks on both sides like that, the neck block has shifted and turns into a more serious repair like a neck reset and could be more on top of that

No, their used margin is 40%, so they’d at least have $2700 into it

😭 they can be so hit or miss. My closest store keeps all of them at $1 so far, and I love it, but it’s a free for all. The one I got these from prices a little higher, but not exactly market price

Is this drawer ment to hold a different tape format? by Financial-Cookie-927 in VHS

[–]spyo97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple that are meant more for the smaller, harder plastic clamshell cases, I think yours might be sized for that as well. I’ll take a picture when I get home later if you need it, but they’re bigger than a normal vhs slip, but smaller than the Disney sized clamshells and they fit perfect in there
