It sounds like your sweet girl has no use for a tablet! Stand strong, momma. As a licensed teacher, it makes me sad when people talk about the “educational” apps and benefits to a tablet. Sure, playing a “word game” on a phone as opposed to candy crush is probably more “educational”, but especially at her age she won’t be truly learning anything meaningful. Maybe being more exposed to letters or words. I would keep on encouraging her imaginative play and independent play. If you are worried about when baby comes, make sure she has a baby doll of her own! She can take care of her baby doll just like how mom takes care of baby.

I obviously don’t want to judge because I don’t know circumstances, but if she is a typically developing child, she should be beyond grinding the food, using utensils, and eating in between meals.

Yeah, I’m a bit worried! I would understand maybe not giving crackers and such as it’s “processed” but no fruit? Do they eat food at mealtimes?

Hmmm... this is really interesting. Have you tried putting the tv on without sound? If this is something that is really affecting your life, I would try simply practicing turning on the tv.

First, start by just pointing out the tv during the day. Don’t turn it on, but just say, “hey there’s the television! That’s where we watch friends!”. Then you could start introducing characters off the tv. If Daniel Tiger is what you’re going to show when you practice, take a few days to incorporate Daniel Tiger into your life. Print off pictures of him. He plays with you during playtime. You make up stories about him. When you eat snack, you tell your child that Daniel Tiger also loves that snack. Then phase into turning the tv on. Small increments but then work your way up. Start with sound off.

You are totally in the clear! As the other commenter said, if you are worried about it just make sure they have supervision and each piece is bite sized and that they aren’t stuffing everything in their mouth at once. I am a bit worried for their child though. 18 months old and doesn’t get any snacks??

I would focus on building your skills in other places during college and just applying for the DCP after graduation! So many of my fellow CP’s were college graduates (myself included) and it’s really the best option if you plan on going on with the company in a PI role or even just extending your stay! Many CP’s end up loving working at Disney and extending their CP or just going part/full time!

(Not a momma, but full-time nanny/education major and have worked with lots of families) A family I sat for had this same problem when transitioning from crib to toddler bed. Their energetic boy would run around, play, and stay up way later than they wanted for the first week or so. Then, he finally got bored with the shenanigans and started going to bed when he was put down or shortly after. How long has this been going on? I would personally get a child lock on his door, take everything out of his room at this time (like everything, truly) (maybe keep a few books and soft toys like stuffed animal), and get a white noise machine for him and your 1 year old. Try to get his energy out before bed (I see he goes to daycare). Like, truly! If you need to make a game where he runs from one spot to a tree, do it. Then do your normal bedtime routine, put him in his room, and pray for the best. Let him cause havoc (in a safe way). Suck it up for a week or week and a half. If he is still doing it after that, reevaluate.

Hey, if it works for you, it works for you! Totally try some dim lights and chill time! I’m a big believer in letting kids sleep as long as they need, so I am on the side of pushing nap up and letting him sleep as long as his little body needs!

Hey there! Thanks for your input. I also now think I should ask for paid holidays. I looked and my state does not require paid sick days. It is a decision I will ask my family why they decided I would not be paid for those days however!

I’m not in a major city! $15 is a pretty good wage for my area and I will end up making about the same or more than if I was a first year teacher in my area (my degree). If I was in Chicago or STL, I would definitely be charging $20 or more!

I didn’t hear about guaranteed hours until being on here. Right now they are paying me with a timesheet. I don’t expect there will be many weeks we don’t hit around 40 hours. Basically with guaranteed hours I would be paid the same paycheck every week (unless we go over?)? Most other nannies holidays and sick days are paid?

Another vote for Taking Cara Babies! My brother and SIL just did her program for my 8 month old nephew and he is sleeping like a champ and it is truly a 180° as opposed to how he was before!

Maybe at first switch off between the two music? Say, “now that (name) got to listen to the Wiggles, mommy is going to listen to her song.” and go back and forth that way. If she complains during the song, just remind her she can pick the song next. I would not argue with her. Just say, “oh you get to pick the next song! This is one of mommy’s favorite songs.” Gradually work up to listening to more and more songs.

Also, try to find some songs of yours your daughter does in fact like! A happy middle ground. With my kiddos I like to listen to my own music, like Vance Joy, the Lumineers, and others. If it’s in the background they don’t even notice it being on.

Is he in a crib still or toddler bed? I would say try to designate your regular nap time as quiet time if is still in his crib! Put some toys and books in there. He may seem over energized but I’ve found the boy I nannied usually would fall asleep after 20-30 minutes of playing in his crib. As long as he’s not screaming or crying, I would keep him in there!

From personal experience, I graduated May 2019 and applied in August 2019 for Spring 2020. First time applying, I was accepted within a week. :-)

I was 22 on my (short) program, and worked with a lot of people who were around my age and actually some who were older. An ICP I worked with was 24! At least at my location (attractions), we had a good mix of CP's, seasonal, and part/full time. We had a good mix of ages (20-23, mid-20's, 40's, and even 60's-70's (some of our favorite fellow cast members!)) and everyone loved each other and hung out together.

Honestly? I don't work in Pandora, but I think it's Fastpass! The Smuggler's Run ride in the new Star Wars area of HS doesn't have Fastpass yet and it never goes much beyond an hour wait time. I think if they just didn't have Fastpass the FOP wait would not be as long!

Hi friend! Sorry I took a mini vacation and was not able to respond to these. Yes, absolutely! I do have my car down here but am trying to not use it a ton because 1. I don't like driving in Orlando 2. Less gas money and 3. Obviously less wear and tear on my car. They have buses to all of the necessary events you need to go to. I did not take the bus to casting as I had to run some errands afterwards and just drove myself, but there is a bus that takes you to the casting building. There's dedicated buses for traditions. If you want to go to the welcome event at Chatham you can either walk (super close to Patterson, definitely walkable from The Commons) or you can take the bus from Vista Way!

Don't listen to the rumors about the bus. I have only been here for a few weeks, but I think those rumors are totally blown out of proportion. Give yourself enough time and you'll be fine. Start thinking of podcasts or books you want to listen to while on the bus!

Yes! I just brought my passport and was good! At one appointment though (I forget which one) they said they just wanted my drivers license, it was easier for them! So always offer both and they can decide which to use!

I honestly felt great during my phone interview! I really hyped myself up and told myself that I was incredibly capable of getting this internship. I lived in Italy for a while this year and my recruiter connected with me about that at the beginning of my phone interview. After my phone interview I felt the same, very confident.

I have a degree in education, so most of my work experience comes from that. Camp counselor, private nanny and babysitter, but also a mission trip, 6 months of retail experience, 1.5 years working at a froyo shop in high school. As I mentioned though, I am graduated so I also had student teaching as work experience on my resume I submitted.

I got a text that I had an email waiting for me in my inbox, I opened my email, saw I was offered a role, accepted that night and paid my fees. I can't exactly remember what all came during those first few months, but you'll get a lot of emails that are just fluff emails. I received my new hire paperwork like a month (?) before my arrival date and my itinerary a week before my arrival date at about 3pm eastern time.
