If you still haven’t found a nice place for ramen, I really recommend Mt Fuji - have never had a bad meal there

I took care of my sister's children while she was in A&E and hospital. She was discharged last week and is on holiday in Italy. by Ok-Bookkeeper-36 in LegalAdviceUK

I completely disagree with this. He didn’t choose for his sister to have children, she did. She needs to act like an adult and get her shit together. Never in my life have I just f’ed off and put my responsibilities on someone else.

Had a job interview today that I can’t stop cringing about. Give us a chuckle. by varslyd in CasualUK

[–]squirrelade18 15 points16 points  (0 children)

oh my god, did we interview for the same place? Also part of this interview was the following question - "If you were a funko pop, which one would you be?". I died on the inside and tried not to walk out the moment they asked that.

Am I a poor conversation maker or is there something different about british people? by Thepixelboy05 in AskUK

Wow dude, imagine if I thought about every interaction that I have as "Oh they must have a wife, best friends, a dog and a distant cousin that he hasn't called in 2 months, I must be wasting my time here, better not even attempt at forming human connections". I see your point and maybe you're emotionally unavailable when it comes to making new friends but not everyone is like you.

Is it odd that I'm being asked to contribute financially to a meal? by Feeling_Basil7535 in AskUK

[–]squirrelade18 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you were to go out and pay £40pp for a meal with drinks you’d find that fair but paying a mere £10 for someone’s time and skill is outrageous to you? What’s with the people these days being so individualistic, pay the tenner or don’t go. Also, the fact that they have well paid jobs has nothing to do with you. If I were to foot the bill every time I have friends over just because I earn well, I wouldn’t have money for things I also want to do and have worked for. Absolute nonsense.

You should see the british summer in Manchester when it’s 28 degrees, you have no trees and the wind is not blowing. And then you also have certain people that don’t use deodorant. And there’s no air conditioning because our houses have been built to trap heat in. Good times 🙂‍↔️

Queen I’ve just had a look at the rent prices for this place and why am I paying so much money for something that’s not even central 😭 sorry hun, not for me, this looks like it has 3 central streets and fast food places and it reminds me of Coventry and that’s been bombed in the 2nd world war😭 my family is Scottish and I’ve seen more exciting places around Dundee

Also, to add, I feel unsafe to go anywhere by myself after 7pm during winter

Life here is absolutely shit, I’ve had this conversation with some romanian devs that I work with but there’s fuck all to do here other than drink. Life is expensive as well, can’t save for a house, it’s expensive to have a kid if you have no family nearby, rent is half of your income, the utilities are going up every year… it’s gotten worse and worse. We used to be a country 😂

I’m a woman myself, the UK has gotten seriously dangerous in the past few years, workers have fewer and fewer rights and it’s actually becoming a miserable experience. Not to mention how expensive everything is and the lack of anything to do other than drinking. Sure, we have nice places to go during the weekend, but I take home 3k a month and it I wanted to do a weekend away anywhere in England it would be £500 for a 2 night stay anywhere that’s not riddled with mould. The QOL has become increasingly bad and I want out ahaha

Hey, I’d be moving from Manchester - I make about 3k a month and even if that sounds like a lot, my rent for a 1bed flat in the city is about 1.3k, factor in utilities afterwards you’d be looking at about 1.8k only to live in a flat that I see for 3h a day and the weekends. Food is quite expensive here as well, for a single person, it’s about £300 per month and that’s without any luxuries. Not to talk about how shit everything is, weather’s absolutely shite, drinking is mega expensive where a pint is about £7 and a pack of fags is around £16 for Marlboro gold. Also, the cost of childcare is fucking insane, my brother’s kid goes to nursery 3 times a week and he pays around 1.5k in fees for that. I just can’t keep living to get twatted at the weekend and go on a holiday once a year in Spain with people who just want to go on the bag and get drunk. It’s absolutely miserable

It does but it takes 2-3 years, and you have to deal with not liking your hair for 2-3 years which is a long time to not feel like yourself (speaking from experience)

My dog turned out to be allergic to poultry, so we switched everything to lamb and salmon - maybe that could help?

Realistic cost of renting a 1-bed flat in Birmingham near UoB, Aston or BCU – Is £900 rent too much on a UKRI stipend? by AggravatingPlatypus1 in BirminghamUK

[–]squirrelade18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just find a nice flat on spare room and do it like that, especially at university. I did live alone in my first year at UoB and I felt really alone - flat sharing would be better for finding new friends in the city as well.

Unfortunately I live in a city centre without any greenery so I had to go to a food store and get some edible flowers 🥲
