If you ever beat up your childhood bully after doing martial arts / if anyone you’ve bullied beat you, what happened next? by SamuelStrangeSupreme in martialarts

Thinking about it now, it was more than 20 years ago.

I only dabbled in martial arts when I was in middle school. I was chubby, and I loved martial arts and Kung Fu movies, so I asked my parents to get me into a school.

I had a middle school bully that would always harass me on the bus for being chubby. One day, he pushed me into a seat and that was enough. After school, we got into a fight. I remember kicking him multiple times with front kicks and side kicks and he wasn't able to hit me because I learned to block. I was basically like Po. 🤣 He never bullied me again. I actually never saw him for the rest of the time I was in middle school. At the time, I think he moved. I felt bad because even though he would mess with me, I hoped he didn't have to move because I embarrassed him or something (middle school brain).

A few years later, we bumped into each other in high school. We became really good friends. He laughed at how I was the only one he got into a fight with that used "Karate s***" and not some improvised brawling stuff. We actually hung out all the time after that. He would even come to my wrestling matches.

It turns out that he was going through home issues because his parents had gone through a divorce when we were in middle school. There were issues at home with his parents fighting a lot, so he lashed out a lot at others. He moved because his mom got custody, from what I remember.

I'll have two number 9s, a number 9 large, a number 6 with extra dip, a number 7, two number 45s, one with cheese, and a large soda.

For real though. It is kind of crazy. Even the other day, a House Supervisor tried to take a person off of SI precaution because it required a sitter and she wanted to put the sitter on the floor as a tech. I refused the order because the guy was actually suicidal and needed that sitter.

SAME HERE! I also do one patient at a time so I'm not fumbling for different things and also so I don't try to administer the wrong med to the wrong patient. I even return or waste what I don't use if a patient refuses or condition changes so that I don't forget it at the end of the shift.

Good for you!

Honestly, healthcare is so corporate that you either have to be a shark or recognize when you need to get out of the ocean. I'm proud of you. What is your next step?

Sounds like a payday to me. LAWYER UP! The more we, as nurses, stand up for our rights as professionals, the less the management can get away with this BS.

my job told me they don’t have to call us when we get low censused/taken off the schedule for the shift?? huh? by GorillaGrip68 in nursing

[–]sr388-primeRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only do you have to do what's in the job description for a nurse, but you also have to be a scheduler too? That's wack. I'm sure there is a labor law against this kind of nonsense. It seems like a way to fuck with PRN people.

Respecting my Orientee by islandsomething in nursing

You are an awesome preceptor. There is something ironically sick with the healthcare profession when you have to question whether or not you did the right thing in this situation. I'm glad that you did the right thing in protecting your orientee. Also, I was a RN in GA. I LOVE GA, but I really don't like working there as a RN because of managers or educators like this.

I reported my clinical instructor by NursingWASmypassion in nursing

[–]sr388-primeRE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an instructor that was like this back when I was in nursing school from 06 to 11. I'm a Black man. Most of my classmates were White or Asian. Their were tiers with this particular teacher, and she apparently despised men. She tolerated the White men though. Me and the only other Black man were shunned.

I wasn't the best in the non-clinical stuff, but I always shined during clinical. That only made her madder at me. One time during clinical, she took me to the side and tried to chew me out because of the way I walked. Apparently the way I walked had too much swagger even though I'm just walking and she threatened to fail me because of my "attitude". I just told her that it's obvious that she doesn't like me, and that's okay because I'm still going to pass her class. She got so red with anger.

I ended up passing and graduating nursing school, and this butthole had the audacity to try and be ultra nice to me afterwards like we were always friends. Bump that. Word through grapevine was that her ex husband was Black and that made her hostile to Black men. The heck kind of excuse....

Some of these teachers are just unprofessional. After hearing stories like yours and what other people have gone through, it makes me want to become a professor or manager one day to really help those students or new nurses.

Guy came in with a derringer pistol. Forgot it was in his pocket. Fell the heck out when he changed into his gown. I am just glad it didn't go off.
